Anya:

“Do Joe and Leanne know about this?” I asked, pointing at my head. Steven nodded and I let out a deep, over-dramatic sigh. “Then that means they’re home doesn’t it?” I asked.

“No, I called them, they’re rarely home you know. They went to Australia for the next two months actually,” Steven replied matter-of-factly.

“Well congrats for them!” I chirped happily. As much as I wanted a loving family to keep me safe, I knew that Joe and Leanne just took me in out of sympathy. Frankly, I was okay with that. It gave me a roof over my head and food in my stomach. That much, I was grateful for. I had Steven and he was all the family I needed. He always picked me up from where ever I needed, he was always trying to protect me, he tried to give me talk about boys just as Joe probably would’ve, and he usually cooked for us.

“Yeah, I guess,” he said, interrupting my thoughts. “But that means they left me stuck with you for the next two months or so. This will either be hell and war or heaven and peace,” he declared. I chuckled and walked upstairs. I got started on the reading assignment due Monday.

About half an hour later Steven called me into his room. “Huh?” I said flopping onto the bed.

“I’m going to stay the night at Lia’s Saturday Sunday and Monday night.  Since it’s a 3 day weekend..” He stated. I nodded, then gasped.

“WAIT!” I said jumping up and running into Joe and Leanne’s room. I rummaged through Joe’s nightstand and found the hallowed out “Self Help” book he had. I opened it and grabbed a handful of condoms. I sauntered back into Steven’s room and threw them at him. “There ya go Stevie!” I grinned.

“What the hell…” he muttered. I chuckled.

“We don’t want two little Stevens running around, now do we?” He chuckled and ruffled my hair.

“Be good.” He said. “Stay out of trouble, and no parties.”

“Got it. Get arrested, and throw a crazy party.” I smiled. “See ya Monday!” We stood there awkwardly for a bit then I hugged him. He was surprised at first, the he hugged me back. “I’m glad Joe and Leanne adopted me.” I mumbled into his chest.

 “Why’s that?” He asked.

I sighed. “Because then I wouldn’t have a brother like you. Actually, I wouldn’t have a brother at all. I’d still be in an abusive home, with no siblings. I like having you as a big brother. I feel safe.” I pulled out of the hug and he smiled at me. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and pinned up my bangs.

“I love you too, Anya.” He said. I beamed up at him and he left for Lia’s and I skipped to my room. I blasted Good Girl Bad Guys on repeat and danced for what seemed like forever, until I was shoved into my wall, knocking my iPod and speaker onto the floor.

“SKANK!” Cooper screamed. “YOU DIRTY FUCKING HOE!” He punched me in the stomach, sending me to the floor. I yelped as I hit the ground.

I wiped blood from my face. “What the hell.”

“Don’t play dumb with me. WE ALL KNOW YOU’VE BEEN WHORING AROUND WITH THAT LITTLE SHIT, JACE BEHIND EVERYONE’S BACKS!” He yelled emphasizing his point by kicking me. I yelped at each kick to my face and stomach. I felt dizzy, and I saw black spots…..

*~*~*~JACE! :D~*~*~*

I was going to go to Anya’s house and see if she wanted to hang out and watch movies but when I got into her driveway, I heard screaming. I ran into the house and followed it to her room. Cooper was kicking Anya and she was laying on the floor all bloody. I tore cooper off of her and pinned him against the wall.

*~*~*ANYA! :O~*~*~*

Cooper was torn off of me by Jace, who was repeatedly punching and kicking him saying, “How do you like it?” I staggered over and put a hand on Jace’s shoulder. He turned to face me and his hard, violent expression softened. I place me hands on his chest, feeling his heavy panting.

“Calm down.” I whispered timidly. He turned to Cooper.

“Get the hell out of here.” He growled. Cooper ran. He turned to me. “Are you okay?” He asked, looking me over. I looked at him for a minute, and collapsed into his arms sobbing. He sat down and held me in his lap. “Shh…” He whispered as he stroked my hair.

A few hours later, my tears ceased. I looked at him and he looked down at me concerned. He picked me up bridal style. “Where are we going?” I asked groggily.

“To clean the blood off your face.” Jace said. I noticed, he was shirtless and I was wearing his leather jacket. He set me down so I was sitting on the bathroom counter. He grabbed a towel and  got it wet. He gingerly rubbed the blood of my thighs. Then he said, “I need you to take the jacket off.” I did as he said. He looked furious.

“Are you okay?” I asked quietly. He shook his head.

“No. I can’t fathom the stupidity it would take for him to have the capacity to do this to you.” He said wiping the blood off of my arms. I hissed in pain as he made his way to my face. “Hold on…” He whispered. “Done. Except… we need to get these clothes off of you.” He said a bit awkwardly. I stood up to go change but I fell. Jace caught me and placed his hands on my hips while I walked. I leaned on the dresser and grabbed a black tank and some blue polka dotted shorts. I sat on the bed and changed while Jace gawked at me. I rolled my eyes and pulled my hair out of its ponytail and re did it. I looked at him.  “Wanna watch a movie?”

“Sure.” He replied picking me up and carrying me down the stairs. I crossed my arms and pouted.

 “I can walk.” I mumbled.

“I know.” He smirked, as he jumped on the couch. I squirmed out of his grip and curled into his side. He put an arm around me and pulled me closer. I didn’t even notice. It was just a reflex from when Nathan and I watched movies together. But with Jace, it seemed more romantic. We commenced watching The Exorcist. I was shaking and on Jace’s lap, and he was just chuckling. Then, the power went out.
