Chapter 22 ~ Mr. Big Bad 'Sexy' Wolf

You groaned as you felt yourself waking up and snuggled into the warmth more; it's strong arms wrapped around you possessively but gently and in a protective manner. Wait, arms? You cracked open an eye and saw a sleeping males face. He looked peaceful and content. You could only see his face and hair, which happened to be silver with red strikes in his fringe.

You just stared for a moment before he himself seemed to wake. He had startling orange eyes and looked at you before smiling softly. The male leaned over and licked your cheek, still smiling when he retreated. Your eyes widened and your breath hitched.

You screamed.

You pushed yourself out of the bed and landed on the floor with a thump. The male leaned over the side and looked at you with confusion, you saw that he was shirtless and was well built due to his good sized muscles.

''W-who are you?'' you said once your breathing eased. You wasn't frightened, but it was one hell of a scare when you woke up next to a stranger; a handsome stranger at that.

''Wha-? [f/name], it's me, Di...re,'' the silver haired male paused and looked at himself as if he realized something. 

He looked at his arms and touched them before leaping out of bed and running; almost tripping, to the mirror.

''Oh Etro!'' you yelped and covered your eyes; he just had to be naked. Wait, you remembered him saying his name. 'Di...re', he couldn't be Dire... could he?

You peaked through your fingers to see him looking and touching himself in the mirror in disbelief. Now that you could see him fully, you noticed that he had a long, fluffy, silver tail with matching wolf ears atop of his head. His hair was shoulder length and he had no other red strikes like the one in his fringe.

''[f/name], what's the matter? It's only me, a little more human like, but still me,'' you heard him say with a light laugh.

Keeping one hand firmly over your eyes, you pointed where you thought down south would be. ''P-please cover up,'' you squeaked.

''Got a good sized package ain't it?'' he chuckled before you heard the rustling of sheets. ''Covered, you can open your eyes now,'' you could hear the smirk.

You opened your eyes, your blush still present. He just had to tie it 'loosely' on his hips, though you had to admit, he was pretty hot. But you couldn't think that! You still couldn't be sure if it really was Dire despite the obvious signs.

''How do I know your Dire?'' you said with a glare though still blushing.

The question had taken him aback before he gave you a sad look. ''Shoulda' guessed you'd be like that,'' he breathed before looking you dead in the eye. ''You and I met 6 years ago and we've been inseparable since. I'm the only one who knows what happened the first 9 years of your life and that you was asleep for the first 3 years. I tried eating you when we first met but you was too skinny for my tastes,'' the silver haired male stuck his tongue out as if in disgust.

''[f/name], are you alright? We heard screaming,'' sounded Balthier's voice from behind the door. 

''I-I'm fine,'' you stuttered slightly.

 ''Ya dun sound alright darlin','' voiced Cid.

The guy's wolf ears twitched before he continued. ''2 weeks later and I still hadn't eaten you, that was when Dante and Vergil found us. You went berserk and looked as though you was in your early twenties, then you fainted afterwards. You woke up three days later with me in an extremely comfy bed. Rain is the priestess with an overly friendly attraction to you. You won't go to sleep without me because you're afraid and suffer nightmares. Your [full name], project XIII, the tarot card of Death,'' he said the last parts softly but quickly.
