Your POV

I fell asleep at one point. When I woke up Jeffory was still cursing under his breath in the corner of his birdcage. I inspected the bars since I had nothing better to do. They seemed to be made out of the same red brick as the bottom of the cell. Then something caught my eye.

Two people were flying up towards the birdcages on wyverns. I prayed that they would pass, but they stopped in front of Jeffory's cage. I watched in horror as one of them jumped off his wyvern and landed with a firm grasp on the bars. He swiftly unlocked a door I hadn't seen before with some kind of key built into his glove. I could just about see Jeffory retreating to the back of his cage, his eyes wild like a cornered animal's. He snarled at the knight and tried to dodge out of the way as the guard grabbed for him, but the knight was fast and lunged out and caught Jeffory by his collar.

The knight dragged him to the door. Jeffory struggled, but it was in vain. The other knight on the wyvern leaned forward and grabbed Jeffory's arm and began to pull him onto the wyvern.

Wait. I've always had an excellent connection with dragons. I was so good with them I could communicate with them. Wyverns were a lot like dragons, so...

"Hey," I hissed at the wyvern closest to me, which was the one they were dragging Jeffory onto. The wyvern's head snapped towards me, and she growled quietly. "Listen, please," I begged her. She tipped her head to one side, a bit confused. "Yes, I can understand you. The man your about to fly to his death is my friend. Please, if you can, save him. You've been tricked by these wicked people. You can get free if you help us. Tell your friend."

The wyvern seemed to think about it for a few minutes while they were chaining Jeffory to her. Then the knight on her back yelled a command. Instead of flying off, she threw the knight off her back and headbutted the other knight off. The other wyvern roared in triumph and stretched his wings. He swooped down and grabbed the fallen knight's glove before he hit the lava. The wyvern soared over to my cage and expertly unlocked it. "Thank you for giving us freedom," he said in a voice with a slight rasp to it. Jeffory was staring at me if I was talking to a rock, but he couldn't hear the wyvern. I reached over and unchained Jeffory. He climbed onto the male wyvern's back and wrapped his arms trustingly around its neck. I climbed aboard the female's.

"Before we go, please, know our names," the wyvern whom I was riding said quietly. "My name is Verath, and my companion's name is Savant." I nodded. "I'm Y/n, and my friend's name is Jeffory. Do you know where the portal is?" Verath nodded and twisted into a dive. She soared towards an island of blood colored rock and then landed. A strange purple portal was in front of us. I slid off of Verath's back. "We must go now or else they will know what we did," Savant growled. Then he dived headfirst into the portal with Jeffory on his back. Verath went next, and then me. The purple stuff felt chilly against my skin, but soon i ended up on the other side.(hello from le other siiiide.... xD)

We were standing in an overgrown cave that looked like it could've held a ritual or something. Jeffory slid down off of Savant's back and looked around. "Nice place," he scoffed. I turned around to see the portal dimly glowing behind us. I realized they could come through for us at any moment.

"Let's go," I said and we sprinted out of the cave. Now we were in the ruins of a small village. But we didn't have time to enjoy the scenery. "Fly us somewhere far away," I told Verath. She nodded and squatted down so i could climb onto her back. Once Jeffory was carefully seated on Savant's back, they took off.

"I'm pretty sure I know where to go," Verath shouted over the wind. "I had an old friend that passed away fifteen years ago. I haven't been able to pay my respects, so let's go to his resting place." I nodded as we soared over the sea.

Soon a mass of land came into sight. A huge tree loomed over a small village. Verath landed outside the walls. A pretty girl with rose-colored hair and pink eyes rushed forward. "Halt!" she shouted, unsheathing a sword. "Friend or foe?" she demanded as I slid off Verath's back. "Friend," I answered. "We need shelter. Please." The girl hesitated, but then nodded. "O-Okay. Um, follow me. But, uh, wyvern's can't come in, i'm afraid." "It's alright," Verath murmured to me. "Savant and I will go pay our respects to Ungrth." Then they romped through the trees and out of sight.

The girl led us through the gates and into the village. Unlike the other places i'd been, this one was quiet, as if it was full of sorrow. Maybe someone close to them had died?

As we passed a hay bale I saw two little kids nestled inside it. One was a little Miew'fa girl with light blue hair, no more than six years old. She was silently crying into the shoulder of a boy with dark blue hair and gray eyes. They looked like brother and sister. As I walked past I heard the little girl mumble, "...Mister was always really n-nice and he l-liked my a-a-apple sweets..."

Aw. Poor thing. I wanted to stop and talk to them, but the pink-eyed girl ushered us forward. She led us into a nice house and sat us down on the couch. "Wait here," she ordered and then left.

I was cold, so I snuggled close to Jeffory, who wrapped his arm around me. Then I fell asleep. I was exhausted from our escape.
