Chapter 9

Soon the attention was turned away from me and was directed towards Lady.  Everyone stared in awe at my dragon.  Lady looked from me to each of the others.

​"You have a dragon?!"  Cole asked while shouting.

​"I sure do!"  I said proudly.

​"How?  How is that possible?!"  Jay said with wide eyes.

​"Well every ninja has a dragon, so why not Cat?  She's a ninja too!  And every girl needs her trusty dragon by her side!"  Nya said defensively.

​"Yep!  Thanks Nya!"  I said giving her a hug.  It's so great to have a girl on the team that understands.

​"No problem Cat.  So what's her name?"  Nya said with a smile.

​"How do you know if it's a girl or a boy?"  Kai asked.

​"I know that because she waited for the attention instead of forcing herself onto us like a male would've done.  A typical male dragon is always trying to get attention, but not females they are mature and polite.  Right Cat?"  Nya says turning to me.

​"So true Nya."  I say nodding.  Then she and I break out in laughter.

​I then notice that Sensei is slowly walking up to Lady.  "Ah Lady, so good to see you again old girl."  Wu says with a smile.  "How've you been?  I haven't seen you in forever.  Not since Lydia left."  He says with a sigh.

​"Oh Wu, it has been a while, I've been fine, just lonely.  Wu old boy you have no idea what it's like to be a dragon that has an owner that never visits or dares to call you.  It's just frustrating.  If it had been up to me I would've stayed with you and your dragon."  Lady said sadly.

​"Well Lady, Lydia did that for her safety and the safety of Cat.  I know you understand, you always were a smart gal."  Wu retorts to Lady's fussing.

​"Well, I do understand.  I just wish Lydia would've told me.  I could've avoided all of this humiliation."  Lady says with a sigh.

​"So, Lady, would you like to see your new home?"  I ask hoping to change the subject and turn it away from my mother.

​"Yes of course!  Thank you Cat!"  Lady said with a smile.  "Lead the way!"

​I take Lady and the others down below deck to the dragon stalls.  I put her in the last stall next to Rocky, Cole's dragon.  I help Lady settle in and get her some food.  While I do that the others tend to their dragons.

​"My, my this place is swell!"  Lady says joyfully.  "Wait a minute...Rocky is that you?"  Lady says to Rocky.

​"Hmm?"  Rocky says lifting his head and peering into Lady's stall.  "Lady!  Why I haven't seen you in years!  How've you been?"

​"Wait, wait, wait!  You know each other?!"  Cole says wide-eyed.

​"Yes!  Lady here was my old neighbor in the underworld!  Before I became yours Cole."  Rocky says.

​"Well then, I guess we'll leave you two to catch up on some stuff."  Cole says.

​"Alright, see you guys later!"  Rocky says.

​"Bye-bye Cat!  Be careful!"  Lady calls after us.

​Cole and the others escort me to the living room.  We sit down and I explain everything.  I tell them about Mordu fallowing Lady and me and about why I left in the first place.  Cole stared at me as if I had grown another head when I told him about what Lady and I discussed.  I knew that I would have to tell them about my real name eventually, but not yet.  I'm not ready for that.
