This is the second and final part of the prologue, after this we get into the 'present day' parts! Enjoy! And I forgot to mention all comments are welcome, and if you find anything that me or my editor missed please tell me! Thanks! Now enjoy!
One day we were on a walk in the park. Someone came up from behind us and pulled us into the bushes. We were shoved into a bag and taken captive. When we awoke from a drug he had put us under we found ourselves in a huge room.
We figured to keep quiet so that nothing else would happen to us. Suddenly a loud cry came from the other side of the room. I looked to my left and saw Davis and Tori reaching for each other. Tori was wailing as if she were having a panic attack. I had never seen her like that before. She was always calm and collected.
After ten more minutes of hearing howls of pain and fear Davis yelled at the guards to let all of us go, or at least to be unchained. The guards actually let us go. Tori and Davis ran to each other and a fresh wave of howls filled the room.
I walked to Carolina and we hugged for a while. We were terrified, but didn't show it. We looked at each other and knew what to do. We stood up and held our heads up confidently. We were prepared for anything, or so we thought.
Tori finally stopped crying and stood with Davis for a while. That's when we heard the laughter. It was deep and rattled. It rang out throughout the small space. It was coming from the platform that I hadn't seen earlier.
I noticed a figure in the shadows, it was slowly moving into the light. Then the figure was out in the light and a look of pure terror latched onto my face. The same look was on Carolina's face along with the love birds'. The creature surveyed each of us. It used some sort of ghostly power to pull Davis and Tori up to his mouth. The figure was a ghost (I should've mentioned that earlier in the paragraph, but oh well).
"Davis a rich man with nothing at all but a pathetic girl and a pathetic life. You could've had it all with Cat but you choose wrong and ended up with a coward. You aren't worthy of Cat anymore, she is too good for you. You are pathetic." The ghost spat at Davis. "And Tori, a pathetic girl that could never hold her own. Always lived with her parents and mooched off of others. Pathetic. Not worth anything. A coward and a crybaby. Alas you had pathetic Davis to help boost you pathetic self-esteem. Nothing but a pathetic loser."
He looked them over again and said, "Time to say good-bye." The ghost started to inhale deeply. I watched as Davis and Tori were pulled closer to his mouth. Then the color drained from their faces and worked its way down to their bare feet. I saw ghostly figures that looked like Davis and Tori float willingly into the ghost's mouth. Then their faces appeared in his eyes and disappeared. He let go of the white bodies, they went limp and fell to the floor. Then I realized that he took their souls and basically killed them. Carolina (who I'll call Carry when I speak to her) and I were next. A lever was flipped and the bodies were dropped into another room that was full of bodies that had no soul.
He used his force to grab us and pulled us up. He seemed to not want to eat my soul and held me more loosely. He looked at Carolina closely and then at me.
"Why is such a smart girl doing with a twit like this? Miss Cat, why do you let this twit be around you? Carolina isn't a smart girl she is stupid, she is worthless, yet you keep her around. She has a pathetic life, while you have a fabulous life. Do you pity her? Or is she your 'friend'?" He sneers.
"She... is my friend... she is loyal... she is caring." I say weakly.
"How are you able to speak?!? No one is able to speak when under my spell!!!" The ghost says, clearly shocked.
"Don't know... Don't hurt... Carry." I wheeze.
"You are stronger than I thought. Why does such a powerful person stick near someone so weak? Well Miss Cat?"
"Carry is strong! I don't know what you mean by calling me 'strong', I'm not strong!" I shout with more force than before.
"What I mean is this: you are fighting my power and winning, your 'friend' Carry is fighting and losing. I am letting you go free of my force to watch this, because you are valuable to me."
He lets me go and I fall to the ground and stand up. He raises Carry up to his mouth and sucks the life out of her.
"NO! CARRY, NO!" I scream. When he drops her body I run to her and cradle her corps. Carry was gone.
"Why so sad my dear? She is here, inside of me. Here you can say your goodbyes."
He pushes her sprit to his eye. He projects her soul out so she can see me. I go as far as I can and look at her. She looks at me and says 'help me' with her eyes. Then she speaks and I can hear her.
"Cat...save me. Don't get yourself hurt, but save me."
"Carry you will be out of there before I die, I promise."
"Cat, you don't under-" She was cut off before she could finish and shoved back into the sprit.
"Why did you do that?!"
"You said your goodbyes and that was all we agreed on. Now come with me."
Of course I fallowed him. I had no choice. He led me into a huge living room that looked like a room out of a mansion. He told me to settle in and that his house was now also my house. I looked at him, and saw that he was serious. He showed me my bedroom, which was straight out of my dreams. I couldn't believe any of this was real. It was amazing.
We had dinner and watched a movie. We ate popcorn and he gave me the grand tour. He showed me what I would be doing and everything else. Then he told me why I was so important. Apparently my soul is worth a trillion souls according to Death himself. I didn't like the sound of that until he said that he would keep me until I died then maybe my soul would be worth even more. The tour ended at my bedroom.
"Now what?" I asked.
"Now you get some beauty sleep." He said (Yes the ghost is a 'he', and a very selfish 'he' at that).
So I went to sleep. I had terrible nightmares about what my life would've been like if I had stayed with Davis and about seeing what happened to my best friend. I was so afraid that it would happen to me if I weren't careful.
"Good morning dear." Said the ghost.
'Huh' a gasped scared to death. "Who's there?!" I said, but then I saw the ghost and sighed. "Don't do that to me! Knock next time please!"
"So sorry dear. I didn't mean to startle you." He said so charmingly that I forgot that he was a soul eater and that I was imprisoned. "What do you desire for breakfast dear?"
"Pancakes and bacon please."
"Anything for you dear."
"Why do you call me 'dear'?"
"I call you that because you are a dear, dear." He said with a sly but charming smile.
"Oh. Ok, can we go to breakfast now?"
"Yes. After you my dear."
We went to breakfast and I enjoyed every bite. He stared at me the entire time. When he looked at me he smiled as if he knew something that he wasn't telling me. I tried to ignore him, but couldn't. He had shrunk down into a size that matched mine. He looked more like a concerned father than a crazed captor.
"Was it good my dear?"
"Yes it was. Why did you add 'my' in front of 'dear'?"
"Because it just shows that you are that much more special."
"Ok. What are we doing today?"
"Well..."
He led me to the sword factory. He took me to a table and sat me down, then he put a long block of a dark stone in front of me. He grabbed a chisel and a mallet and put them in my hands. Then he looked at me and waited.
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
"Make a sword."
"What is this stone?"
