into a deep sleep

- CHAPTER ONE-

~~ Alice's POV~~

  It's been three days since we ran away. I'm so hungry and tired, but Danny says that we must keep moving.  We have to get away from Ms. Marie.  The date is December 15, 2013. Danny syas that we might be able to get to Aunt Isabella's house by Chritsmas, quicker if we find anyone to give us a free ride.

  I should explian whats happenning, shouldn't I.  I'm Alice Evans, I'm 14 years old and i have waist length Dirty-Blonde hair, Sky Blue- Gray eyes, freckles on my nose and always pink cheeks. I'm 5-3 and I'm actually very fair skinned. One wierd thing about me is that my eyes change differnt shades of blue and sometimes purple (when I'm feeling extreeme emotions). I have an older brother, Daniel, who is 17.  He is 5-9 with tanner skin, but with the same freckles and rosie cheeks. He has light brown hair and Green-Gray eyes.  We both have three peircings in our ears ( i have three on both sides) to show how many families we've been with. We haven't seen our parents for 10 years, they disapeared one day and never came back. Since then we've stayed at Ms. Marrie's Home for Orphaned Boys and Girls. She has put us in three different families, every one of them would return us after about a year. Every we come back, we get a new peircing. After your third, you have a year to be adopted or they will "put you to sleep" they would say.  We were always eing treated like animals, except for making us do chores.  Danny and I have reached our limit and year.  We over heard Ms. Marie talking with the other councilers , Ms. Vicky and Mr. Ray, saying that they were going to do us in soon.  That was about 5 days ago. Since then, we have been runnig, trying to reach Aunt Isabella's house before they find us.

  Anyways... We were fast walking down a dark street around 11:30, trying to look for a 'comfortable' alley to sleep in for the night.  Every one we've already passed has been taken by some homeless man. My eyes started to get droopy. We were only carrying a few blankets we 'borrowed' and one extra outfit each. (that was all we owned) It wasn't enough to be heavy, but we've been walking all day and it was starting to make my legs hurt.

  " Bloody Hell, theres got to be an alley way that isn't already occupied!" Danny muttered thinking I couldn't here.  He was always trying to look happy and be optimistic around me.  I hated it sometimes because it was like he was treating me like a five year old.  But, I always tried to act the same.  It kind of gave me hope sometimes.

  "Don't worry Danny, I'm sure we will find one soon. You know, it dosen't have to be extreemly comfortable right? I'm fine with anything really." I told him with a smile. He stopped and turned around then gave me a huge close-eyed grin.

  " You know what?  I think God was listennig because thers an empty one right there."  He turned back around and skipped a few feet before turning into an alley.

  I giggled and followed, my eyes turned a brighter shade of blue with relief.  When turned into the alley i found him standing triumphantly with his hands on his hips.

  "Perfect right?" he asked. I gave him a thumbs up and dropped the bag clothes, tooth brushes/paste, my razor, and hairbrush. " Okay, lets set up our blankets!"

~Time Skip 11:50~

   We layed awake, looking at the stars. I couldn't seem to fall asleep and neither could he.

  "Just Close your eyes Ali, I know your sleepy. I can literally see it in your eyes."  He was right, my eyes had turne into a midnight blue to show how tired i was. I yawned. "Actually," he started, "don't fall asleep yet."  He sat up and started digging in his bag.  My eyes shown specks of green in confusion. I didn't ask though, he was always this random. " Here!" he turned back around. "I got this for you while you were in the bathroom.  I saw you looking at it when we stopped for a breather"

  He handed me a small dark green box with a small light blue ribbon on it.  I openned it to find a large silver ring with a gorgeous rectangular dark blue dimond in the center.  It look brilliant.  BUt then I stated to think about how expensive it must have been.

  "Daniel James Evans!  How did you get this? It must have cost a fortu- wait tick!" A sudden realization dawned on me. "We have know money how could you even buy this?"

   "Alice Grace Evans!"  He yelled back teasing me.  "I didnt buy this-"

  "SO YOU STOLE IT!" My eyes were now a deep purple with anger, then bright purple standing for me being frightenned that we were going to get in trouble.

  "No! Of course not Ali. The lady at the shop gave it to me for free.  She told me to give it to you and it might bring you, us, good luck." he explained with puppy dog eyes.  My own turned into a pinkish purple for skepticisom.  He noticed and quickly added, " Honest."

  Now my eyes were back to my bright Blue-Gray for happiness, then to dark blue (I was still tired after all) "Thankyou very much Danny, its- yawn- perfect." He then yawned as well and checked his whatch.

  "Your very welcome Ali, now go to bed. It's nearly midnight."  He showed me his watch, I had too squint because the only light was moonlight. He was indeed right, the clock shown 11:56. I nodded and we hugged for a moment. He gave me a huge kiss on the forhead then whispered "Je t'aime, Ali."

  "Je t'aime, Danny.  Everything will be better in the moring"

  He let go and layed back down. I heard him whisper "Damn right it will." I laughed and looked up at the sky.  After a minute i started to hear his soft snore, I look over to see his eyes closed. This made my own feel even more droopy. I looked back up at the stars, then the moon.

  "Hey, it's a full moon.  How pretty." I held my hand up to the light and slid on the ring Danny gave me.  It didn't fit on any of my fingers so i had to put it on my thumb.  ' It still looks lovely though'  I thought.  Once I put my arms down and repositioned myself, I began to slowly close my eyes.  I made sure the last thing i saw was the brilliant moon. 

  And with that, I fell asleep dreaming about nothing in particular.
