She took a deep breath and prepared to face the man who had her heart.
She stepped into the room and her heart dropped. Cole was leaned against the counter drinking coffee and Katie was standing at the island in just a tee shirt. It was obvious that she had spent the night.
Cole swallowed hard when he saw Delilah step into the room. She was holding a box in her hands. "Lila..." He saw the hurt written all over face. There were tears forming in her eyes. .
"I just came by to drop off this box of stuff you left at my place... I'll just leave it here." She put the box and his credit card on the floor and headed for the front door.
She made it to her Jeep before Cole grabbed her arm. "Lila, wait...."
"What?" She snatched away from him. "What do you want, Cole? And don't ever touch me again. We aren't together. I thought maybe with a little bit of time..... but it's plain as day that you're still fucking her, Cole. She's standing in your kitchen, half naked.... Don't even try to deny it." She stated.
"What do you want me to say, Delilah?" Cole asked quietly.
"Nothin, Cole, Not a damn thing. I don't want you to say a word. I have to go. I need to pack for Vegas. I hope she was worth it." She climbed behind the wheel of her Jeep and started the engine.
Cole was still standing in the driveway when she backed up.
The party was in full swing and Delilah was way past drunk. She had been partying since she got to Vegas two days before. The drinking seemed to numb the pain of her broken heart.
She was tossing back shots when a guy approached her. "Hey gorgeous... you wanna dance?"
"Sure." She grinned.
Cole kept his eye on her from across the bar. She was getting sloppy. He watched her slip into a guy's arms on the dance floor. His heart constricted. He took a pull from his beer bottle. He saw the guy lean in and say something that made her laugh. She nodded and took his hand.
They were headed for the exit. Cole nudged Mike and Michael. "He's trying to take her outta here." He set his beer down and made his way through the crowd.
"Hey, Lila, wait." Cole stepped in front of the guy holding Delilah hand.
"Dude, you're in my way."
"You're not takin her out of this bar." Cole stared at him.
Delilah looked at Cole and then at the guy whose name she couldn't remember. "What, Cole?"
"You don't wanna do this." He locked eyes with her.
"You don't know what I want."
"Do you know this guy?"
"Yea... he's my ex. He cheated on me with his ex."
The guy laughed. "Move, bro. You heard her. She wants to leave."
"You're not takin her outta this bar. She's drunk. I know her. She doesn't really want this."
"You know me, huh?" Delilah lips twisted in a smile. "Then tell me why you didn't know that I would be pissed off that you fucked your ex? Why didn't you know that, Cole?"
"Lila, stop. This isn't the time or place to go into this..." He shook his head.
"Then move so I can leave."
"You're not leaving with him."
"Why? Jealous?"
"Stop, Lila... let me take you back to your hotel..."
"You want to fuck me now? Where's Katie? I mean since she fucked you when we were together I guess it's only fair that I fuck you since you are with her... Is that what you want, Cole? To fuck both of us?"
Cole reached for her arm. "Come on, Lila...."
She pulled back. "I'm leaving here with him..."
"You heard her...." The guy tried to step around Cole.
"No you're not leaving with her."
"You gonna stop me?" They guy shoved Cole.
"I'm gonna damn sure try but if I can't..." He pointed behind him where Luke's security was standing by the exit. "They will." Michael had called him.
The guy released Delilah. "I don't want any trouble." He faded back into the crowd. Delilah stared at Cole. "Seriously? Now I need a drink." She stumbled as she turned back towards the bar.
He caught her before she fell. "You've had enough."
"Says who? You're not my boyfriend anymore, Cole... I'm single and over 21."
"We're leaving." Michael wrapped his arm around her waist. "Come on."
"Let go." She struggled against him.
"You're leaving this bar one way or another...either you walk out with me or I will carry you out."
She looked at her brother's guitarist. Michael Carter was dead serious. "Fine."
Once they were out of the bar she faced Cole on the street. "I hate you. You can't stand the fact that I am moving on! What's the matter, Cole? Pissed off that I'm not sitting at home crying over you anymore?" She shoved him. Her eyes were spitting fire. "You hate that I am finally over you! Guess what, Cole? The world doesn't revolve around you! You're a self-centered son of a bitch! You can stay away from me as far as I'm concerned. I never want to talk to you again."
She was shaking she was so mad. "Easy, Lila." Michael said gently.
"I wanna go back to my hotel." Tears were filling her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Lila." Cole swallowed hard. "So sorry."
"I don't want your apology, Cole... I want you to stay away from me."
