Making My Way to You

Chapter 12

"Baby! The car is here!" Cole said picking up the last of the suitcases.

"I'm coming." Delilah came down the stairs with her purse. "Are you sure I don't need anything else?"

"No." He shook his head. "There are four suitcases in the car."

"If you would just tell me...."

"No. Stop. I already told you. You'll find out when we get there." He opened the car door for her.

"Just saying it would have helped me pack." He climbed in beside her. "You would have still brought an entire suitcase of just shoes." He teased.

"Well can you at least tell me if we're flying private?"

"Yes. And Yes. Well at least part of the way. We're flying commercial into Atlanta."

"Then private?"

"Yes. Now hush. You get nothing else. "He kissed her head.

Cole snapped a picture of himself and Delilah right before takeoff. "Vacation with this beauty. Warm weather here we come. @delbryan."

The flight attendant handed her a glass of champagne and Cole a beer. "A toast to us... to Christmas and to makin it this far." Cole tapped his beer bottle to her glass. "I love you."

"I love you too." She brushed her mouth across his. He watched her stare out the window for a second. "Lils?"

"Hmm?"

"Can you do me a favor?"

"Anything." She turned to smile at him.

"This week... while we're on vacation.... Can you turn work off? I mean no emails, no phone calls....I want to spend this time just us. No distractions."

"I'm all yours this week."

"Good." He raised his arm for her to snuggle into him. "We need this."

"Yes we do." She sighed. "Time to decompress."

"Yup." Cole took another pull from his bottle. "I have a couple of surprises in store."

"Really now? Like what?" She looked up curiously.

"You'll see." He winked. "Sit back and enjoy the flight."

They landed and Cole ushered her into a waiting SUV. "Here we go."

"Can I open my eyes now?" Delilah asked as Cole led her into a room. "Not yet." He had his hand covering her eyes. "Cole..."

"Now." He dropped his hand. She opened her eyes and gasped. The view in front of her was breathtaking.

"Oh my...."

"You like it?" Cole asked with a grin.

They were in the tropics she knew from the white sand and the clear blue-green water and the warm breeze that was blowing in from the open balcony doors.

"YES!" She threw herself in his arms. "It's beautiful!" She kissed his mouth. His arms tightened around her waist. "Not nearly as beautiful as you." He said against her lips.

The bell hop cleared his throat. "Welcome to the Dominican Republic. We hope you enjoy your stay!" Cole tipped the guy. "Oh we will."

Delilah had disappeared out onto the balcony. Cole went to join her. He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Just imagine how gorgeous the sunset is going to be from here." He said into her ear.

"I can't wait. Oh Cole." She turned in his arms. "This is the sweetest, most romantic thing you have ever done."

"I ain't done yet baby." His eyes twinkled. "Come on. Let's go down to the beach. I wanna see you in that white bikini you bought that you think I don't know about."

"Sneakin into the closet again." She playfully swatted his chest.

"Hey!" He laughed as they walked back into the room.

She went into the bathroom and changed into the bathing suit and slipped a pink cover up over it. She was going to make him wait a little longer.

Cole was dressed in blue board shorts and white tee shirt. He had his hat on and sunglasses. "Ready?"

"Yup." She laced her fingers through his as they took the elevator down to the lobby.

As soon as her feet hit the sand she sighed. "This is perfect."

"Yup.Five days of just you, me, sand, sun and fruity little drinks." He kissed her temple.

They found a spot by a cabana and tossed their stuff onto the chairs. Cole pulled his tee shirt over his head and tossed his sunglasses into the chair. His breath caught when Delilah slipped out of the cover up.

"Damn baby, warn me will ya?" He kissed her hard. "You are sexy as hell in that bathin suit."

She giggled. "Behave."

"I am." He tugged her towards the water. "Come on."

They played in the water for a bit before coming out. She stretched out on a towel in the sun to get some color on her skin. He snapped a picture. "DAYUM! Catchin rays never looked so good #vacation #mybabysrockinthatbikini #shesmine #luckyainttheword @delbryan."

"Baby, you want a drink?" He asked.

"Sure. Surprise me." She lifted her head and blew him a kiss.

"K. Be right back."

A few minutes later he was back. "Here, sugar."

He handed her a cool fruity drink with a pink umbrella in it. "Thank you." She sat down beside him. He was kicked back in his chair with a beer in his hand. She snapped a picture with her phone. "I'm enjoyin my view, ladies. #luckygirl #blessed #vacationwithsweetness #mybaby #dominicanrepublic. @coleswindellmusic."

He leaned over and kissed her softly. "I love you, you know that, right?"

"I love you too." She smiled. "This is seriously perfect, Cole."

"I'm glad you're happy." He kissed her fingers.

"Always."

They enjoyed the beach for a little longer before they headed back to get ready for dinner.

The next morning he surprised her with a hike. "You ready?"

They hiked up the canyon with him behind her. "What's wrong? Can't keep up?" She teased with a smile.

"Oh, I can keep up." He growled playfully reaching for her waist.

She squealed and raced up the rest of the trail with him hot on her heels. He caught her at the top and swung her up into his arms. "I love you." He whispered as he pressed his lips to hers.

"I love you too." She sighed. "Look at this view." She gasped.

"Let me get a picture." He pulled his phone from his pocket. He snapped the picture of her smiling with the beautiful blue sky in the back and her water bottle in her hand.

"Just a hike with my gorgeous girl. The DR is out of this world. #lucky #blessed #vacationwiththishottie #shesmine. @delbryan"

"My turn." She took his phone. Cole was looking out at the view. "He talked me into a hike. Love this view. #dominicanrepublic #vacawithmyman #luckiestgirlever #love.@coleswindellmusic"

"One of us together." She snuggled into his side. "Enjoying this beautiful island and this girl. #vacation #thisisadreamview."
