I woke up the next morning feeling significantly better.
Well, as good as one can be at 7 am.
Unless I had school, I would never be up this early. I guess I had slept so much yesterday that my body was demanding that I wake the frick up.
As I sat there, staring at the ceiling, my thoughts drifted back to yesterday's events.
It was pretty dark out by the time Zahraa had left. After I had my epiphany, I began feeling drowsy and couldn't even fight off the wave of tiredness that came over me. I succumbed to the fatigue and fell into a dreamless sleep.
I had woken up at around 17:20.
I looked up at Zahraa to see if she had fallen asleep, only find her already looking down at me, a small smile tugging at her lips.
"Welcome to the land of the living, Neil"
"Oh hush" I playfully scowled at her, laughing afterwards.
This.
This is what I was talking about.
She didn't even need to do much. Her presence just put me in better spirits.
We had talked for a bit, about anything and everything, getting to know each other more, up until her mom texted telling her she was outside.
"Are you gonna be okay?" She was concerned, lingering at the door way after grabbing her jacket and putting her shoes on.
"I will be. I promise" I smiled, a genuine smile this time.
"Just take care of yourself. Please. And text me if you need anything"
"Alright, love"
"Bye" she said one final time, before slipping out the door and into the hallway.
The fact that I loved her didn't even scare me the way it did before. It excited me now. It was a new feeling, and I was embracing it with open arms.
Call me whipped, a sap, corny, whatever you want, but the truth was that I was insanely in love with an extraordinary girl and wouldn't have it any other way.
I decided to send her a little text.
I knew she'd only be awake after what she called "stupid o'clock" which was anytime before 12pm and that meant it'd be the first thing she'd see when she woke up.
"Good morning angel. xx"
And send.
I remember my aunt Nina ranting on about how much it makes a girl's day when their boyfriend sends them a good morning text, to show that they were thinking of them.
Then she complained about how my uncle Ted hasn't done that for her in years, to which uncle Ted unceremoniously yelled back "Why would I be sending you texts when I wake up right next to you every morning and get to do it in person, love?"
I've never seen my aunt blush that much ever since I was born.
She tried scoffing it off, but I could see the love and fond radiating off of her.
Off of both of them.
I want that.
Maybe one day, I smiled to myself.
"Oh damn, I'm turning into such a cheesy little shit" I thought to myself, falling back onto the bed.
