I was jolted out of my nap when I felt my phone vibrate in my front pocket.
It's strange that I could feel it considering the fact that my leg was a bit numb from Niall sleeping on it for so long.
Not that I mind, of course.
I tried rubbing the sleep out of my eyes for a few seconds before taking my phone out slowly while making sure not to jostle Niall unnecessarily and possibly wake him.
He really needed the sleep.
Plus he looked really peaceful.
His rosy cheeks were puffed out, lips slightly parted as he let out a soft snore every now and again. His hair was a fluffy mess atop of his head on account of my constant stroking and petting. The length and thickness of his eyelashes seemed almost unnatural as they occasionally fluttered. It was mesmerizing.
And way cuter than it probably should've been.
Especially the way his arms would tighten around my legs, like the way one would do to a teddy they were cuddling, followed a couple seconds of squirming before he got comfortable again.
I shook my head, focusing back on the task at hand. I tend to get a little distracted.
- Where are you?
- Are you alright? Are you safe?
- Zahraa
- Text me.
Ah, my mother. Ever the worry wart.
I sent her a quick reply before she her nerves got all over the place.
- Yeah I'm alright ma. I'm at Niall's. He's having a bad day and asked me to come over. I'll be back in time for dinner though, don't stress. Love you x
Her reply was almost instantaneous.
- Kay love. Take care. Both of you. Hope Niall feels better soon. I love you too.
I smiled at the message, before locking my and placing it onto the bedside table, turning my attention back to the warm, cuddly, soft-looking boy sleeping on my lap.
I wonder what happened today. I've never seen him like this before. I mean, I know I haven't been around him for all that long, so I don't really have anything to compare this to, but it's just such a contrast from his sunshine demeanor.
My heart broke when I walked into his room earlier. He looked so lost, so tired. He looked like a boy that had given up on everything and was now awaiting his demise. Or something equally as depressing.
I wasn't even sure how to make it all better.
I guess I'll just have to wait for him to wake up before even attempting to deal with the situation.
To while away the time, I grabbed my phone again and went to my Instagram app. There's always something interesting on there.
It hadn't even been ten minutes when Niall began stirring and squirming indicating that he was waking up.
I watched him squeeze his eyes shut for a moment before trying to open them. He blinked a few times, looking disorientated. He inhaled deeply and then slowly sat up.
As soon as he was upright, he turned his body slightly and faced me.
"Hi" he said groggily, a yawn escaping his lips seconds after.
