"Niall! Quit it" Shayna giggled, ducking behind one of the throw cushions on the couch.
"Well you started" Niall smirked, pelting Shayna with bits of pop corn all the way from where he was. Which would be next to me on the couch.
They were giggling and chucking pop corn at each other.
The actual fuck?
I was supposed to giggling and playing with Niall and hardly paying attention to the movie. Instead it was as if I had been replaced by Shayna.
It all began when Shayna started singing along with the intro song of the movie. Niall's head snapped up to look at Shayna in amazement so quickly I thought he'd get whiplash.
He began singing along with her with the biggest grin on his face.
And after that it was as if all hell had been unleashed.
Well for me, that is.
They kept making these inside jokes and references related to the movie that I simply couldn't understand for the life of me. They laughed in between the scenes, sometimes quoting the lines of the characters word for word and just having a jolly old time.
At some point, they began arguing about who the main and best protagonist was, because there seemed to be many apparently, hence the start of this popcorn war.
Sigh.
I must've actually done it out loud, because Niall shifted his body a bit, looking down at me.
"Are you okay, love?"
"Yeah I'm all good" I forced a smile.
"Are you sure?" He frowned, probably noticing my less than genuine smile.
"One hundred percent. Just carry enjoying the movie, don't stress"
He regarded me for a few seconds with what could only be labelled as concern, before sighing and nodding.
He put his arm over me again, pulling me into his side and placing a kiss at the crown of my head, before turning his attention back to the movie.
Even with that small gesture, my cheeks couldn't help but heat up.
Maybe I was overreacting? I mean look at this sweetheart.
My eyes darted in Shayna's direction for half a second, only to find her already looking in our direction. She had a look on her face that I couldn't really place, but it made me feel uneasy.
After noticing my gaze, she seemed to snap out of it and turned her attention back at the movie.
There was peace for a while, all us just silently watching the movie and laughing every now and again.
That was until some scene came on that Niall and Shayna obviously knew the lines to and of course they had to recite them and the same time, resulting in them looking at each other for a bit before bursting out laughing.
And then it was back to the secret jokes, giggles and popcorn chucking.
I eyed them with a heavy heart, willing myself to focus on the movie. I just felt really left out. It was as if I wasn't even there anymore and quite frankly I hated it.
I sighed, focusing my attention back the TV screen and trying my best to sink further into the couch. I was already invisible anyway so why not.
It wasn't easy with Niall's arm around me, but I worked with what I had.
Eventually my eyelids became heavy and I succumbed to the promises of numbness (mainly emotional) that sleep provided.

When I came to, I was still lying on the couch, only this time there was a warm little fleece blanket thrown over me and Shayna was sat in the arm chair typing away at her phone.
I blinked the sleep out of my eyes and slowly sat up. I let out an involuntary yawn, drawing Shayna's attention to me.
"Hey, you're awake" she pointed out, smiling.
"You don't say" I replied in a monotonous voice.
Yes, I was still a bit pissed off about earlier.
"You missed both movies, sleepy head. Despicable Me 2 is the best thing oh my word" she giggled. My snappy mood didn't seem to faze her.
"Yeah cool," I said coldly and quite frankly unlike me, "where's Niall?"
"Oh his mom called and he had to leave quickly. He said he'd text you though. "
I visibly deflated.
"Oh. Okay" I shrugged, trying to seem unaffected.
Maybe I really was overreacting? I mean there was no need to be so rude to Shayna. She didn't do anything other than spazz over a movie with my boyfriend and have a mini popcorn fight with him.
No biggie.
"He's such a funny dude. You sure know how to pick 'em" she smiled, looking over at me. The glint in her eye that I couldn't really decipher had returned. I honestly didn't know what to make if it.
I couldn't help but clench my fist under the blanket, a sudden wave of possessiveness washing over me.
Her phone dinged, indicating that she had just received a message.
She smiled down at her phone, reading the message before looking back up at me.
"Niall asked to tell you good night and he hopes you dream of him with a little smirky face" Shayna chuckled.
Despite the message she had just relayed to me, my blood began to boil.
"You and Niall are texting? " I raised an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah, have been since he left."
Why the fudgesticks does she seem a little smug?
"And he couldn't text me himself?" I asked again.
"I'm not sure why he didn't, but either way that's the message he ask me to pass on" she shrugged.
So somewhere in between my nap and now, Niall and Shayna had become fast friends and were even on a texting basis. And evidently, Niall would now rather address me via Shayna, as if he doesn't have my damn number.
I'm probably overreacting but I can't help it.
Would it be too much of an effort to text me personally instead of Shayna?
I'm not even sure what to make of this anymore.
