Chapter 12: Fired

Brianna POV

***Next Day***

“Here you go sir.” I said sliding the Corona bottle towards the bald built man. He grabbed it and gave me a wink causing me to scowl at him.

“Brianna!”I heard my boss yell. I rotated my head towards his direction only to find him pointing at the empty tables with empty cups and plates. I knew right away what he was referring too; he wanted me to clean the tables up since Andy left early for a reason that was still unknown to me.

I huff in response before bending down to retrieve the black bin that was under the bartending booth. I shuffled to the empty tables, grabbing all the empty cups and plates that were already used, and setting them into the bin. Once everything was cleared, I made my way to the kitchen where I set the bit down besides the sink so Juan our dish cleaner can clean them. I wiped the sweat that was forming on my head and sighed. I was exhausted; I hated working at Bobs Bar. I glanced down at my watch and sighed in relief, my shift was over; I was free to go home and rest. I walked out of the kitchen and into the back room where all employees go, to retrieve my stuff, but as I was about to leave the half empty bar my boss called me causing me to curse under my breath in annoyance.

“Office now, I need to have a word with you.” He said disappearing into his office. I walked into his office, slowly entering to find him rubbing his hands over his face nervously. “Please sit.” He ordered pointing his finger to the couch in front of his desk.

“Everything alright sir?” I asked falling back onto the couch resting my hands on my thighs trying to look professional as I possibly can, which probably failed because I looked like chubaca at this moment.

“I’m afraid not,” He said rubbing his temples. “Lately we haven’t been having enough customers, and without enough customers, we don’t make a enough money making it harder to keep up with our bills, and making it harder to pay our employees. So I have to lay off some people.” He said sighing.  “I’m afraid your one of them, sorry Brianna but I’m afraid I’m going to have to let you go.”

“What!” I yelled arising to my feet swiftly. Please, someone pinch me I have to get out of this nightmare! He can’t fire me he just can’t!

“Sorry.” He said handing me a sheet. “I’ll be mailing you your last pay check through mail.” I shook my head, trying to keep myself from jumping over the table and strangling him! Yeah, I know that’s a bit violent but hey I bet if you were in my position right now you would probably be thinking the very same way.

“How could you lay me off! Out of all the ruthless and lazy workers here you choose one of the hardworking ones SERIOUSLY!” I say slamming my hands on his desk causing him to flinch.

“Like I said before Brianna, I’m sorry.”

“Sorry this! Sorry that!”  I said in a high pitch voice.

“You are free to go.” He said calmly, putting a folder in his filing cabinets.

“Oh no, I am refusing to leave without an explanation!” I said folding my hands over my chest.

“Leave.” He said glaring at me.

“Nope.” I said shaking my head.

“Shall I get Edwin?”

“You wouldn’t I know you.” He chuckled.

“You sure about that?” He asked raising an eyebrow. “EDWIN!” he called. Within a few seconds Edwin walked in, his awfully tall figure standing over me shadowing me. “Please escort, Mrs. Brianna here to the exit.” Edwin nodded be grabbing both my arms and lifting my up like nothing, like I was nothing but a feather.
