On the Way

Phil had dried up his tears by the time Ash had arrived. His eyes were still noticeably red and puffy, but he figured Ash would not even care to ask. He was waiting for her on the front steps with a bulky coat on and snuggled in it further as he walked to get in to the passengers side of the small silver car. Ash smiled widely upon his entering.

"Hey-" she stopped herself to look at him better her eyes suddenly filling with confusion and concern and her smile fell." Phil are you okay?"

Her hand moved to rest on his shoulder in a comforting manner when he did not answer. He just looked at her in astonishment.

Why did I ever think less of her?

She would never know how much her simple gesture meant to Phil right then when he was so content with second guessing himself.

Without explanation Phil pulled Ash into a hug. He soon thought that he had over stepped his boundaries when she pulled her arms around him to in reassurance.

They did not know how long they embraced each other. Thoughts flying through their minds as they sunk farther into each other. He suddenly thanked the world that there was not a glove console separating them and that Ash decided not to where her spiked jewelry today, for it would have for sure be stabbing him in the jugular.

When they separated Phil felt ten times better, he would have to remember for future reference how good of a hugger she is.

"S-sorry," he finally stuttered out even though he was not sorry at all.

"Do not apologize, my huggable ways cannot be avoided." She said with a friendly smile trying to lighten the mood. "Do you want to talk about the particular reason why you are upset?"

"Were," he corrected her "I am okay now." Phil smiled at the honesty behind the words.

"Fantabulous." Ash gave another big grin and started a playlist on her iPod hooked up to the AUX cord. Budapest by George Ezra started playing and they drove off to the playground.
