It's the last day of summer. I'm at Walmart. My sister's waiting in the car.

I look at my school's website on my phone to see what I need. Ok, so a few notebooks, crappy orange pencils which I'm probably not going to use, binders, a calculator, and a few other things that I already have or don't need.

I meander through the countless aisles like a stream. I end up wandering into the chips aisle, and I see a light saber. A lightsaber buried in the depths of junk food. Who knew?

Yes, a lightsaber. I love Star Wars ok? Gosh. Don't question the ways of the Force.

I pick up the green lightsaber and do some jedi moves to just amuse myself. Just as I'm doing my weird jedi moves with the lightsaber, a group of people my age come into the chips aisle.

They had to go in the chips aisle. They had to be there when I was. I am so lucky. I love my life.

I literally freeze and die inside.

Is this the end?

They look at me and blink their eyes. A few boys in the group snicker. The girls are starting to giggle uncontrollably. I feel the blood rush up to my face, and I drop the lightsaber back into the cave of chip bags, mortified. As soon as I did that, I sprint/walk to the other end of the aisle to escape before I could do another stupid thing.

Now, I'm trying to find the school supplies aisle. Hopefully, there are no light sabers there. Or annoying people. Or just people in general.

I walk to the huge sign that says, 'School Supplies' and there are no people in the aisle.

Praise the Lord everyone.

I then grab the things that I need, including the crappy orange pencils.

Oh shoot. I hear footsteps.

I dash out of the aisle dropping the crappy pencils along the way. Unfortunately, the person who was coming saw me. "Luna?"

Stepping backwards, retracing my steps, I turn around and reply, "Katherine?"

"Luna!" Katherine beamed.

I give her a faint smile. Katherine Elizabeth Leene. One of my friends since seventh grade. We're super close. Katherine is a genuinely nice person, but sometimes she's either really crazy or she's really shy. She teases me sometimes, but I don't mind because I know that she's kidding.

"Oh my gosh! I haven't seen you in...." she looks to the ceiling (she does this when she thinks). "I don't remember." Her ombre hair sweeps over her face as she doubles over laughing.

I smile at the sight of her.

She looks up, eyes shining, "So what are you up to?"

"Last minute shopping," I shrugged.

"Yeah same!" she grins and picks up some supplies while talking about how excited she was for school.

I nod at her chatter and look down at my faded yellow converse, which fit me perfectly now. Suddenly, my phone vibrates.

Sister: ur taking forever hurry up i wanna go home and eat

Me: too bad it's not even lunch yet

Sister: be that way

Me: i will

I look up from my phone, and Katherine is done chattering. She says that she has to go, and bids me goodbye, and I wander around some more, avoiding the chips aisle and sounds of footsteps.
