I'm still upset. I'm not going to talk to Katherine any time soon.

I knew that I should've listened to my instincts. Katherine is a fake. She's too perfect. Even her name is too perfect. Her smile is too white. Her hair is too soft. She has too many friends. Was she fake to her other friends too? My instincts told me when I first sat next to her at the lunch table. But, no. I didn't listen. I wanted a friend. I felt so alone. I still am.

I am alone.

It's the worst feeling in the world.

Alone.

I sit on the carpet next to my bed. I run my fingers through the cheap carpet, making friction. Now my hands feel too warm. I check my phone for any texts. No. Nothing yet.

A few minutes later, my phone buzzes. It's Levi.

Levi: hey luna

Me: hi

Levi: do you have any other homework besides science

Me: no wbu

Levi: nah

Me: emm ok

Levi: ...

Me: i have to go ill see u at four

Levi: okk bye

I turn off my phone, and feel guilty. I don't have anywhere to go. Wow. I'm such a good friend.

It's 3:56. I'm driving to Levi's house. It takes like, five to ten minutes depending on how many annoying speed bumps and unnecessary stop signs there are.

When I finally get there, my phone buzzes loudly.

Katherine

Hi! :)

I ignore the text and step out of the car, walking to Levi's front door.

I knock four times.

No answer.

I knock again, harder this time.

No answer.

Ugh. I take out my phone and call Levi.

All I hear is his voicemail. Hi it's Levi, his calming voice says, just call me again and see if I answer. Then, a monotone voice of a robot lady comes on, At the beep, please record your message. When you're finished recording, ha--the door swings open. "Oh, hey. Sorry, I was in the shower, " Levi smiles slightly and gestures for me to come in.

I step inside, and a pleasant scent greets me. Pumpkin. No, actually, pumpkin spice latte.

The house is like, super clean. And when I say super, I mean super. It looks like a bunch of people came in and polished the floors, furniture, decor, sink, (I can see the kitchen from here) and the ceiling. Yes, the ceiling looks shiny.

I notice that Levi is straightening flower vases around the house, and putting astray TV remotes back to their places. Then he turns back to me, "Sorry. I have OCD."

"Oh. Ok. It's fine."

"You can sit down if you like, I'll be right back," he goes up the stairs.

My phone buzzes again as I take a seat on Levi's couch. It's still Katherine. How's life? the notification says. I swipe my finger to make her see that I read her texts, but I didn't respond. Ha. Take that Katherine.

Levi comes down the stairs and his hair looks like a drawing that a three year old would've called their interpretation of normal hair. Which wasn't good.

He sits beside me, looking a bit nervous.

There's an awkward silence.

Not wanting any more of this awkwardness, I start by saying something about the topic of the project, which we still had to choose. And we talked about it for awhile. We exchanged a few note cards and pencils and whatnot. Until, it was 6:33, and I had to go. I thanked Levi and left his house.

My phone. It's buzzing. Katherine's calling me.

No.

I throw my phone on the floor and stare at it malevolently

After a few calls, the ringing stops.

My breathing is shaky.

The tears start to flow like a river flooding over a flat plain.

Fake. She's fake. That's all she was. That's all she is.

I'm a fool. A stupid fool.

Fool.

Idiot.

Stupid.
