Chapter 14
"W-w-wha-?" I stammer, unsure if I heard correctly or I'm just deaf and acting like a total creep right now. The sheer thought of anyone actual caring about me gives me goosebumps.
Felix looks into my glassy eyes with hope as he presses his thumb against my forehead, wiping away some blood that has started to drip. His facial expression has dropped, his mouth nearing a frown.
Toby, Toby, Toby. All I think about is Toby. I haven't told Felix about the kiss. What did it even mean? I don't know. How can I answer Felix if I feel I will betray both of them. But Felix deserves to know the truth.
"Felix, I need to tell you something." I start calmly.
"I ruined it didn't I?" He says, frustrated with himself. I hold his face with my hand, shaking my head.
"No, no, no, no. It's not you. It's me." I breath out. "I-I-I kissed Toby." I blurt out. I look down, avoiding looking at Felix's reaction. Instead of my initial though, that he would become mad and leave me here, he pulls me into a hug.
"Clem, I don't mind. I understand. That was before this. It doesn't matter." He says sympathetically. I look up at him with disbelief.
"I'm sorry." I whisper, hugging him back. I rest my head in the crook of his neck.
"No Clem. You don't need to be." He continues. Finally, I pull away from the embrace.
"Yes." I smile. Felix's face shows a sliver of confusion evident. So I continue. "I will be your girlfriend." My smile grows even larger as Felix smiles along with me. Soon after, he pulls me into a kiss that seems like it lasts forever. The night air doesn't seem to be cold anymore. I smile in between kisses as our lips move in sync. Finally, I have to away because I'm out of breath. Felix intertwines his fingers with mine.
"Do you wanna go?" He asks. I nod. I take one last look at the lake, as we turn around and start clambering up the hill. It takes a lot of effort and teamwork to get each other both up in one piece. In the end, we both lie at the top, out of breath. It doesn't really help that we're laughing like maniacs either.
"You have a really good voice." Felix says. I shake my head up at the sky, panting.
"I don't believe you." I grin, standing up. Felix jumps up and link our arms. We start walking towards the area were the group was having their picnic.
"Just stop being modest." He grins cheekily. I whack him in the arm playfully and I don't regret it. We walk through the fields until we finally see Marzia, Annabelle and Rosie. Marzia notices us and smiles, giving a big wave to us. Felix pulls me along as we jog up to them.
"We were just leaving." Rosie smiles as she rolls up the picnic rug. Anna picks up the basket and we all walk towards the parking lot together.
"It's lovely here isn't it." Marzia says, looking around at all the plants. I nod in agreement.
"Yeah." I say softly. We walk up to Rosie's car and help them put everything into the backseat. After that, Anna hops in the car and rolls down her window to say goodbye to us.
"Hurry up Rosie!" She snaps. Rosie ignores her and keeps talking to Marzia. After awhile, she waves and hops into the front seat to drive.
"Bye guys." She yells out the open window. We all wave.
"Oh, and Anna," Felix starts. He pulls a smirk. "Change my answer to we are together." I see Anna scowl at me and she gives me the most jealous looks I have ever seen. She doesn't even try to hide it. I have the sudden urge to stick my finger up at her, but I fight my instincts and don't. I just peck Felix on the cheek and smirk as Rosie drives away.
