The bell rings, signaling the end of sixth hour. This is the moment Ellie has been dreading. It's time to go to science class, which means, she shudders, Adam.
Ellie reluctantly clambers out of her seat. She walks through the doorway into the cramped hallway. As she makes her way towards science class, She sees her younger sister, Reagan, who is a sixth grader.
"Yooo Ellie! What's up!" Reagan exclaims.
"Um... I'm just going to my next class." Ellie responds
"Don't you wanna take a longer break? You don't have to go right to class! You're such a goody goody." Reagan grabs Ellie's arm and drags her the opposite way. Ellie wiggles out of her grasp and storms off. Reagan is left laughing her head off at Ellie's reaction.
Ellie rolls her eyes as she walks away. She mumbles to herself, "Stupid sisters," as she walks into Mr. Yaughn's classroom.
Adam is already there, and already staring at her. Ellie sighs, plopping her books and binders down at her seat. She quickly busies herself with the task of filling out her planner, so Adam doesn't talk to her. "Is something wrong?" Adam asks. Apparently he noticed she was acting weird.
"I'm fine," She says, trying to keep the anger out of her tone. She must of failed at that too.
"Are you mad at me?" He asks sympathetically.
She wanted to say, 'Well no duh!' But instead she replied, "Just please don't talk to me, ok?"
Adam shrugged and looked away. 'Well that didn't go too badly,' She thought, 'it could have been a lot worse'. Even so, she felt super awkward and annoyed that he was sitting next to her.
FTAANGGG, the bell rings. Mr Yaughn enters the classroom smiling. He tells everyone what they're doing that day and the class gets to work. Before class ends, Mr. Yaughn announces, "We're having a lab tomorrow, you'll be working with the person sitting next to you."
Ellie really hopes she gets sick tomorrow.
