Candra waits at Ellie's locker so they can walk to science together. Ellie gathers her stuff and slams her locker shut. She spins the lock around a few times before she leaves. Candra and Ellie slowly walk, side by side to science. "So, how's the lab gonna be for you today, Ellie?" Candra asks.
Ellie rolls her eyes and sighs, "Terrible. Absolutely terrible. And you know it."
"I thought you liked labs." Candra says, smiling at her.
"Not this time. It's gonna be terrible."
As Ellie finishes her sentence, the two girls reach the doorway. Before entering, Ellie peeks around the door frame to see if Adam is there. Thankfully, the coast is clear. Candra gives Ellie a questioning look but doesn't say anything about her strange behavior.
Ellie rushes to her seat, taking her planner and a pencil out. She writes a simple word in it, lab, then shuts it closed. She speed walks over to Candra's desk to talk with her. After talking for a few minutes, the bell rings and Ellie returns to her seat, reluctantly.
Mr. Yaughn strides into the room with a huge smile on his face. "Alright, you know what to do. Get a lab sheet from the front and get to work."
Adam stands up rather quickly, racing the other kids to the stack of papers. He somehow gets the first two, and hands one to Ellie. She scowls, grabbing it from his hand without a thank you. Adam doesn't protest and they both start reading the paper.
"I'll get the supplies, Adam demands.
"I can at least get one thing, you don't have to..."
Adam cuts her off "Nah, I can do it"
'Ew, Ellie thinks, is he trying to be a gentleman? This is disgusting.'
Ellie decides to be rebellious, so she goes to get a yardstick. Adam glares at her, but gets the rest of the items.
When he gets back, they start setting up the lab. Ellie grabs the tape and he gets a piece of string, about a foot long. He ties the string to the middle of the yardstick. Ellie takes the yardstick from him. She tapes the string to the corner of the table, so the yardstick hangs off the ground. Adam starts blowing up one of the balloons while Ellie blows up the other. When she's done, Adam takes it from her, accidently touching her hand.
"Ew! Ellie screams, He touched me!" Ellie rubs her hand on the nearest person.
Adam looks at her like, 'What the heck ellie? What was that for?' Before returning to taping the balloons to the yardstick. Ellie smiles.
When they finish the lab, they sit back down at their table.
"Ellie, what do you think of me?" Adam asks.
Ellie rolls her eyes,"What does that even mean?"
Adam sighs. "I think you know what I mean, you're smart.
"Oh my gosh Adam, I don't care!"
Adam says nothing. He gets out a book and reads.
The bell rings for homeroom
