Third Person
"Where... are they? Where's mama? Papa?"
"I'm sorry, Konimi-chan, but they... didn't make it."
"Make it...? Make what?"
"Ch-chotto, Konimi-chan, you need to rest!"
"Is that..."
"Listen, Konimi-chan---"
"Mama... can you hear me? Papa... wake up!
"Mama, Papa! It's not funny anymore! Wake up!"
"Konimi-chan! You need to get back to the room immediately, your blood levels---"
"Wake up! Please!"
Wake up... wake up... wake up...
"Cosette. Cosette. Cosette!"
Violent shaking jolted the blonde awake, and her eyes flew open as she sat up, gasping for air.
"Hey, hey, breathe slowly, Cosette. I'm here, I'm here..." a familiar soothing voice said, and she turned towards it, eyes still filled with obvious terror.
Brown hair and brown eyes...
Her breathing shallow, she managed to whisper out, "M-Morisuke...?"
"A-are you alright?"
Yaku winced at his own words, mentally slapping himself.
Idiot, of course she isn't alright! Can't you see that?!
Cosette's mouth opened, but no words came out --- her mind would not let go of the nightmare.
This nightmare... I actually... it's so different... from what really happened...
She clenched her fists tightly as she pushed away the original memory.
No, don't think about it. Don't think about it, don't try to remember, don't.
"I-I... came to check on you when I woke up, and, well... you looked like you were having another nightmare..." his voice trailed off as he regarded the second-year with concern. "I assumed right, didn't I...?"
There was a short silence, before Cosette flopped back on bed, trying to even her breathing. "Yeah," she managed to say.
Yaku stayed silent, waiting for her to add something, which, thankfully, she did.
"I remember it. For the first time, I remember the nightmare. And I... I..."
Tears stung her eyes, but, desperate not to be so vulnerable again, she took a shaky breath and shook her head, blinking her eyes rapidly as she sat back up.
I don't... want to remember...
"Nevermind," she whispered. "Nevermind."
"Cosette..."
"Leave it. It's... I... I'm sorry if I worried you. You don't have to. I'm---"
"No! Listen to me, you're not fine! I've already told you countless of times that I want to help you! Please, don't push me away when---"
The libero was cut off mid-sentence as Cosette abruptly clung to him, her eyes shut tightly.
"E-e-ehhh? A-ano! Cosette?!"
"I know, I know, I know," she said quietly, burying her head into his shoulder, "that's what I always do, to anyone and everyone, and I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to want to help me of all people. I'm sorry that I'm always making you worry. I---"
