Chapter 18

Dylan's POV ~
It was a lake with a park my dad took me too all the time when i was little. I hadn't been here in about 5 years almost, but everything was still the same.
"Come on lets go!"
We walked over to the lake and sat on the bench, there was a couple families with their little kids running around having fun family time. It was so cute to watch all the kids run around and have fun at a park that i used to do the same thing with my family when i was little. I had a thought while sitting there with my arm around Rae, but i wasnt sure if i was gonna say anything but started talking anyway...
"Raelynn.... Did you ever think or realize thats its not things in life that change but its you that changes?" I looked into her eyes with all seriousness. I think i shocked her by my thought.
"Yes. Yes Dylan i know exactly what you mean." She paused. "I was kinda thinking the same thing actually."
Weird is all i could think that we were both thinking that.
"Great minds think alike i guess." I chuckled as i talked.
"What made you think that Dyl?"
"Well..... This Park i guess is what you would call it haha, umm... My dad use to take me here all the time when i was little. We'd go fishing, play ball, make adventures. Ya know just hang out. Yes my mom came to but it was usually just us here. My dad told me the story of how he knew of this park. It was that park his dad brought him to when he was little, he found it by mistake. He was supposed to be meeting his girlfriend now my grandmother at a restaurant but he took a wrong turn and found this park instead of the restaurant. He thought it was beautiful and spent the whole rest of the day here." Raelynn cut me off.
"He didnt go on his date?"
"I was getting there!" I laughed. "Anyway when he got home he remembered that he was supposed to be going out with my 'grandmother'. So he went to her house to apologize when he got an idea. When he got there she was mad and crying because she thought he stood her up. He begged for forgiveness and said he wanted to make it up to her. She said fine an he took her here. She thought it was gorgeous she forgave him clearly haha but this is where he purposed to her. And where my dad purposed to my mom and-"
"Dylan... Whats going on?" Raelynn started blushing.
"Dont worry im not purposing... Not now at least haha i would get beat up by your mom and brother." We laughed and she punch my arm.
"Not now at least?" She questioned me.
"Well... I... I ugh..."
She pressed her lips against mine.
"Please continue your story Dylan."
"Okay... Where was i? Oh right okay. So its been a tradition is what i was gonna say haha. So when my dad brought me here he said nothing had changed since he was little, the last time i was here was the summer you moved here Rae." This part made me sad but i kept going. "At the end of that summer before you moved here my dad was in a bad car accident. He wasnt always so quiet and timid. He was kinda like the guy version of you. Happy, be himself, do what he wants kinda guy ya know? I mean he still is but the accident changed him, he hurt his back and just couldnt do all the fun crazy stuff anymore. Then you moved in and everything got a lot better again. But the point being i thought about what my dad said that nothing had changed, and how its not things around you that change its you that changes. Its been a little over 5 years since i've been here but everything looks exactly the same as it did 5 years ago."
Rae's eyes were all teary and she looked like she was gonna cry.
"Im sorry Rae-bug i didnt mean to upset you."
"No, no im not sad." She wiped her eyes. "Thats just one of the sweetest things i've ever heard."
I pecked her lips, and it was my turn to question.
"What made you think about it?"
"Well i was thinking about how ive been acting the past couple days since Maddie and John moved here and i realized that im changing my attitude its not controlled by them its controlled by me. And i thought about everything i have, you, Aubrey, Kaden, my mom, Katie. Just all the stuff i have hasn't changed. I did. I dont want to change i want to stay me." I wrapped my arms around her and talked into her ear.
"Im glad you dont want to change i love you the way you are Raelynn."
"Love you to Dylan."
We had out moment together not talking just enjoying each others company like always.
"Can we walk around?" Raelynn asked
"Sure of corse we can" we got hands laced together and walked around for a couple hours.
"We should get going we have a long ride back." It was about 4:30pm and it was about an hour and a half drive back home. Raelynn fell asleep in the car on the way home.

-skipping the ride home-
When i pulled into Raelynn's driveway she was still sleeping. I decided not to wake her. It was around 6pm but i figured if she wanted to hang she would text me. I wasnt gonna leave i was gonna hang with Kaden and let her sleep because i know she been up all night worry about Maddie trying to get with me. I quietly closed my door and went around and picked her up bridal style in my arms and carried her up to her room and placed her on her bed. Ao just looked so cute i didnt want to leave her. I decided i should stay. I kicked my shoes off and laid next to her.
"Thanks for today Dylan. It made me really happy." Raelynn startled me because i thought she was still sleeping.
"No problem im glad it made you happy" with that we both fell asleep until Kaden woke us up for dinner.

-skipping to friday-

Raelynn's POV ~

Today was Katie's party and Aubrey and i were gonna try and hook Maddie up with some guy so she would leave Dylan alone. I know it sounds mean but hes mine. Haha i cant stop thinking about what Dylan said to me at the park the other day. 'Not yet at least.' Was he serious!?!? Like did he really think we could be highschool sweethearts? Did he want to be with me forever? Does he really love me that much? It drove me crazy thinking about. I know i loved him that much. I hadnt told Aubrey about that whole part of our conversation on Tuesday but i wasnt sure if i wanted anyone to know.
"Ready to commence operation hook Maddie up with someone other then Dylan?" Aubrey talked in a weird voice trying to sound sly but totally failed.
Haha "YES! You couldnt think of a better name?"
"Hey im not a genius!" We laughed.
"COME GIRLS LETS GO!" Dylan and Kaden yelled from down stairs.
"COMING!"
We were off to the start of a very eventful night.
