Chapter 32

Raelynn's POV ~
I open the door to see Maddie standing in my doorway. Even though i hate her my first reaction was to grab her and hug her to comfort her, so i did. Tears were streaming down her flush but red cheeks from hours of crying im guessing.

"Shh.... Maddie its okay i know, come in" i said as i pulled her inside. I could tell this shocked Dylan that i did this but it was my natural reaction to the situation. We sat on the couch an let her calm down before asking questions.

"What do you need Maddie?" I asked.

"Well m-m-my mom sa-said that she ne-need-needed me to find a ride to the hos-ho-hospital because she doesnt want me stuck there all night, but i want to be there he's not just my brother. Hes my twin literally my other half i cant leave him there alone." She stuttered through her words.

"Okay we can give you a ride. Come on lets go." Dylan said as he got up and grabbed his keys and headed for the door. We followed, i stopped and grabbed Maddie a water bottle so she didnt like pass out in the car. The ride was silent, Dylan drove fast but safely. When we pulled in the parking lot we all got out of the car and ran in. Maddie ran over to the front desk lady and asked about John.

"Can you please tell me what room John Carter is in? He was the boy hit by the car, hes my brother." Maddie rushed her words.

"Miss. Carter your brother's in the ICU. Room number 306." She said as she handed Maddie the visitors pass. "Are these people with you ma'am?" The woman asked.

"Yes" Maddie yelled because she just wanted to get to John.

"Okay, here. And prayers to your brother" she handed us each a visitors pass.
We all walked to the elevator and got in and pushed button 3. Then Maddie started talking.
"Thank you for bringing me here, i know we havent really gotten along but it means a lot."

"Maddie we told you if you ever needed anything we would help you. And this is important, the past is past and whats now and next is the future and thats what matters" i spoke, again Dylan totally shocked. Honestly i think i need to get over my past jealousy and move on and be friendly with Maddie, not bffs but mutual friends. The elevator came to a stop and the bell dung and the doors opened. We all walked out and walked down the hallway looking for room 306. Then we saw Maddie's parents in the hallway standing outside of, were guessing John's room. Maddie ran over to her mom and grabbed her in a tight hug. I felt tears fill my eyes again.

"Why are you out here?!?! What happened is he okay? Whats going on?" Maddie rambled, she looked like she was gonna faint or pass out.

"Shh... Sweetie, hes still in stable but critical condition but a doctor is in there so they asked us to come outside in the hallway." Maddie's mom reassured her.
Dylan and I (a/n : wow i used proper grammar 😜😂 go figure) walked over to them.

"Hi, im sorry to hear what happened how is he?" I asked honestly worried about John.

"Thank you Raelynn, and critical but stable. A doctor is in there now, he had X-rays done when he got here, he is still unconscious as of now so we dont know how bad everything is yet." She answered.

"I'm sure he'll make a good recovery." I tried to think positive, its then i realized Dylan had been very quiet. Now it was me, Dylan, Maddie and her parents standing in the hallway outside of the room. Then a doctor opened the door and motioned us into the room. We all filed in and grabbed a seat and he started talking, i saw John... The sight was horrible, they cleaned him up the best they could but he looked terrible. Scratches, cuts, and bruises in his face and arm from what you could see.

"Mr. & Mrs. Carter i would like to go over your sons x-rays and condition with you, is it okay all these people are here?" The dr. asked. They both shook their heads so he continued. He put the x-rays up on the light box on the wall, one of his wrist/arm and one of his foot. "Here on his left foot he fractured a bone, and here he broke his wrist. Both on his left side from the impact of the car. As of now he is stable but doing well. Any other problems are not showing as of now, when he regains consciousness it will show any other problems if there is any. Like i said he is responding well to the meds as of now so all there really is to do is wait."
This like broke my heart. I havent seen a family look that broken since my parents spilt....

The doctor left to give us all privacy and it was really quiet. John's left wrist was in a soft case and so was his foot. They didnt want to put a hard cast on until he was awake again. Maddie was on the right side of the bed holding his hand crying and talking softly under her breath. Im guessing she was trying to talk to him or praying but im not sure.

"We'll give you guys a minute." Then me and Dylan went in the hallway.

Dylan's POV ~
I was totally shocked by Raelynn's reactions to this whole thing. I mean i was worried and cared but i didnt think she would act like really close to them the way she was. It was weird, but now we were in the hallway giving them privacy as a family.
"Raelynn are you okay?" I asked
"Yeah... Im fine why?"
"I dont know your just acting different" i said looking at the ground.
"Yeah i realized the past is the past and things cant get better if you dont try and move on.... Forgive, but maybe not forget is what i mean. I'll be friendly, not bffs but friendly with Maddie. I never had a problem with John."
"Okay sounds and i know you didnt." I responded. I pulled her into a tight hug because i just felt like i was gonna cry.
"Are you okay Dyl?" Rae asked
"Yeah, could we go sit?"
"Sure"
We walked over to the little waiting room and waited for someone to get us so we didnt interrupt whatever family time they still had.... Then Maddie came out and sat across from Raelynn, you could tell she had been crying again.

"He-he's conscious....." She chocked on her words. Then her parents came in and sat down too.
