Chapter 18: Promise and Games

First Half of A/N:

*** I did a lot of thinking and thinking ... so I decided to go with this: Asuna and Kazuto end up graduating in the same year. Asuna graduates on time as Kazuto managed to catch up and will be fulfilling the rest of his required courses at the university in America. For example: the full drive technology and mechatronics are classified as AP courses replacing the standard courses he would have to take in Japan. If this is still confusing, please just go with it. Kazuto's POV:

March 4, 20XX

Today was our graduation, I found myself smiling and at ease.

Asuna graduated on time from being trapped in Aincrad for two years. As for me, I managed to catch up just barely so then I could get the chance to go study abroad in America. I technically have enough credits to graduate high school, but my credits for computer science and other science related courses will be taken care of at the university. So all my credits should be able to transfer without a hitch.

I watched as Asuna held onto her diploma proudly in her hand as I held mine. I walk over to her, "Congratulations Asuna. We did it." I smile.

A gentle breeze blows a strand of her chestnut colored hair. She pulls it back behind her ear and I'm mesmerized by the beauty in front me. She smiles, "Thank you and you too, Kirito." Asuna looks down, in a cute way, "I was surprised to find out that we got to graduate in the same year. You still have a year left before technically graduating. How come you didn't wait for another year?" she asked.

I explained, "I actually got nominated to study abroad at the university. You know the VR Probe I made for Yui?" Asuna nods. "I got a letter that I was a candidate of becoming a potential student for their mechatronics field after submitting my research. I even got a scholarship. So if I do really well, I might be able to stick around there a little longer."

"That's great Kirito. I'm happy for you, but that must've been a huge work load on you."

"Yeah it was, but this has got me hooked. I want to know now more than ever." Asuna then give out a soft smile. "B-but of course," I said nervously, "I also wanted to be with you, too."

Asuna blushes. "W-what? Kirito, you didn't have to do all of that," she then grabs my hand, "because we'll always be together." I smile as we lean in for kiss.

With graduation out of the way, Asuna and I got to spend the rest of what was left of the spring season together.

Third Person's POV:

April 14, 20XX

It was White Day and Kazuto planned their day at a park where they frequently have gone on previous dates.

On each date, the two never got tired of the scenery because on each date, there was always something to commemorate their time together.

Kazuto looked up at the sky and noticed the wind had picked up. He also noticed the cumulonimbus clouds forming early that day. When he did, Kazuto looked up on the weather on the internet. There he found out that it would rain later that afternoon, but thought to himself that it would be a shame to waste the nice weather outside until it rained.

He texted Asuna that the plan would be a stroll in the park and just before the rain, they would hang out at his house. Asuna was more than willing to spend the day with Kazuto whether in rain or shine.

A few minutes later, Asuna arrived in with a white blouse and blue skirt along with a small over the shoulder purse and white hat with a blue ribbon. "Sorry, Kirito. Were you waiting?" she asked.
