Chapter 12: Quest

Third Person POV:

January 9, 20XX

Kazuto linked start into Alfheim to meet up with Asuna and the rest of his party members in the southern part of Sylph's territory. On their quest, they had a party of seven members that contained: Kirito, Asuna, Leafa, Klein, Silica, Liz, and Sinon. Naturally, Yui came along since she was recognized by the system as a navigating pixie and not a player. Agile, regretfully, was not able to come along due to someone needed to watch over his shop in the real world.

Once everyone got together. Asuna asked among the group, "So what kind of quest is the one we're on like?"

Before Kirito could answer, Klein interrupted answering with, "All you need to know is that is quest is a gold mine."

"Huh?" Asuna was still puzzled. "I still don't quite understand."

Liz then elbows Klein's avatar in the gut and explains, "It's a gathering quest. So even though we're gathering items on this quest, there's other items to obtain from this area."

Klein rubs his stomach area where Liz elbowed him. "Ow! That really hurt, you know."

Liz confronts Klein, "Oh really? Even though this is the virtual world?"

"Whatever, it still hurts." He replied. "Either way, see that volcano over there?" He points to the direction where the volcano lies ahead.

Asuna nods.

"Well over there is a rare ingot that you can only get from that volcano. With that, I can use it to upgrade my sword." He explained.

"Same here." said Sinon. "I need a rare ingot found in the forest to upgrade my bow."

"And that's where I come in," Liz added "since those ingots can only be found in this area. You wouldn't be able to identify them without me."

"And that's where I come in," said Leafa. "I'm a Sylph so I know my way around here well. In case you guys get lost."

Silica then slightly cleared her throat, "Well I'm here for an item called, Whisper of the Horn. It'll help allow me to strengthen my skill of being beast tamer."

"Wow, that's a lot of stuff we're finding on this quest." Asuna then looked over to Kirito. "What about you, Kirito? Didn't you say something about a rare item as well?"

"Actually," he hesitates to answer then replies with a sly smile "it's secret. You'll see."

Asuna tipped her head to the side wondering what Kirito's motive was, but then brushed it to the side as they flew to an isolated area with an environment similar to a tropical rain forest.

The group landed near a small village where Kirito led the group into the village to meet up with an NPC. Above the NPC's head was his curser and it read the name Head Chief of the Forest Elves Quill.

Forest Elf Chief explained that he and his people were called Forest Elves. Species that once were fairies, but then chose to abandon their wings. Similar to elves, however these elves branched from the fairy's lineage and were given the name wingless ones.

The Forest Elves are one of the many elf tribes that lived in Sylph territory. There also lived, not too far away, another tribe who called themselves Dark Elves. The two tribes have shared a long history of constant wars; over land and usage of magic. Until recently, both leaders decided to end the war with a peace treaty along with an arrange marriage between the head chief's son of the Dark Elf and head chief's daughter of the Forest Elf.
