Ruhani's pov

Anaya will kill me, even today I am late for the coffee shop. It had been two years since we opened "THE FRIENDLY BEAN" coffee shop. The first time she showed me the coffee shop was to give me a surprise so that I could recover mentally.

I was mesmerized when I saw it. I loved how she used my favorite colour red for the walls  and there were yellow tables throughout the area. All the equipments were really modern, made from stainless steel. Muffins which were filled with different syrup like maple, choclate were the plus point of the coffee shop and attracted the customers. It was small but it had a comfy touch. I love to work there as the coffee shop was our dream from class ten. I love the sound of small talks filled with air along with the smell of vanilla  and sound of bean grin and sounds when cups meet saucer is like a music to me.

'Great this is the first coffee shop where customers arrive before the owners,' Anaya's voice came as I entered the coffee shop and some customers were staring at me. I smiled at them and went in the kitchen.

'Sorry for yelling at you in front of the customers but I tell you everyday to come early but you are always late,' she said while sitting beside me on the bed. Yes... We have a bed... Anaya specially ordered the bed for the staff so that they can take rest if they want.

'It's okay but you know na, how much my sleep is important to me,' I said.

'Ya but it is our coffee shop Ruhani, we are the owners, and what impression will the customers get when they will se that there is no staff in the shop,' she explains.

'Sorry... I will go and check on the customers,' I said and served our customers. I went in the kitchen to make hot coffee for one of our customers.

'Why are you late, Sameer?' I heard Anaya asking Sameer who just now came in the shop.

'Today I missed the 8.15 bus Anaya Di,' he said softly and I smiled at him.

'You both will never be tired of giving excuses,' she said angrily and we both smiled looking at each other. She went to check on the customers and Sameer went to pantry to check the cupcakes.

The day passes by with the customers and soon lunch time came. I opened my box and water came in my mouth when I saw Aloo ke parathe made by mom.

'Where is Sameer?' Anaya asked as she removed her apron and sat beside me and took out her tiffin.

'He went to buy a mobile phone,' I said.

'Oh,' she said as she took a piece of paratha from my tiffin.

'Three years ago on this day you came to see the coffee shop,' she said as I took a bite of paratha.

Shit!

I totally forgot.

'Sorry, I totally forgot,' I said sheepishly.

'It's okay I know how weak your memory is in terms of dates,' she said and we both laughed.

'Thanks for everything. I am really lucky to have you as my best friend,' I said remembering all the thing she had done for me.

'And you are also the best thing that has happened to me,' she said with a smile.

'Thank god in class four I was crying for a certain jerk and you came and hugged me,' I smiled remembering the incident.

'That day when I saw you crying I don't know why but my heart said I should give you a hug and I did it,' she said.

'Thanks to that one hug, because of that one hug we are best friends,' I said and we both smiled.

'Ruhani Di, Anaya Di, I bought the Samsung model,' we heard Sameer's voice as he came excitedly and showed his new phone to us.

'Wow! it's very nice,' we both said in unison.

'Thanks to both of you for believing in me and my baking skills and for giving me this job,' he said suddenly.

'You deserve it,' I said.

'Yes, you make the best muffins,' Anaya said with a smile.

After the emotional moment we went back to our work.

'How was your day?' Dad asked as I sat on the sofa beside him.

'Very hectic, and I had to wait thirty minute for the bus,' I said angrily.

'I know princess but after that incident you never travelled in a taxi or a car,' he said.

'Why are we remembering the past again?" mom said as she came with a plate of snacks.

'Thanks mom I was very hungry, you are the best,' I said as I took the plate of snacks from her hand.

'And me?' dad asked with a pout and me and mom laughed at his childishness.

'You are the best.' I hugged him tightly.

'Okay, I will go and freshen up,' I said and went to my room.
