(DAN'S POV)
"Hey, wake up!" I opened my eyes to see the boy who'd stopped me from jumping off a bridge the night before, shaking me awake. He'd let me stay at his house after I'd told him about my mum and how I couldn't go back to that dreaded place I called home."I'm awake, what time is it?" I asked, sleepily.
"It's 7:00 but you don't have to go to school if you don't want to," Phil told me, looking sympathetic, "I'll stay here with you if you want."
"No, it's fine." I assured him, mostly because I didn't want to intrude on his daily routine and have another person dislike me for being too needy.
"Are you sure? Because I've heard what people say about you at school, and I kind of thought that was one of the reasons that you...um...you know." He looked at me again with those irresistible blue eyes you could drown in. I didn't know what to say so I just looked down at his blue and green checkered sheets. "Alright, it's settled. We are going to stay here, or go out if you want, and we are going to have a good time."
I looked at him, confused as to why he was being so nice to me, considering he'd only really known me for less than five hours. I presumed it was because he felt sorry for me. But I didn't want any pity. I also didn't want this random perfect kid parading into my life acting like he knew what I was going through. But I didn't realize how truly broken this boy was until what happened next.
//"I'm home, faggot!" I heard as the front door opened loudly, causing me to flinch from the sudden noise.
"Who is that?" I asked Phil, causing him to only sigh in response. "Phil?"
He sighed again and looked at me with a sad expression on his face, "My brother." He said coldly.
