Chapter 9

The Schuyler brothers were dancing wth each other and their mother. Now let's have Elijah tell it.

"I have never been the type to try and grab the spotlight. We were at a revel with some rebels on a hot night! Laughin' at my brother as he's dazzling the room....then you walked in and my heart went 'Boom!' Tryin' to catch your eye from the side of the ballroom. everybody's dancin' and the band's top volume! Grind to the rhythm as we wine and dine!"

Elijah ran over to Andrew, "Yo this one's mine."

"My brother made his way across the room to you, and I get nervous thinking what's he gonna do! He grabs you by the arm, I'm thinking 'I'm through' then you look at me and suddenly I'm helpless!", Elijah said almost falling into a couple, from looking at her new crush.

Alexandra was talking to Andrew until Andrew started walking Alexandra to his helpless brother.

"Where are you taking me?", Alexandra asked tenderly, confused on where Andrew was taking her.

"I'm about to change your life", Andrew replied.

"Then by all means, lead the way", Alexandra replied.

"Elijah Schuyler, It's a pleasure to meet you", Elijah said, bowing half way.

"Schuyler?", Alexandra said turning to Andrew for help.

"My brother", Andrew replied too excited.

"Thank you for all your service", Elijah said, taking Alexandra's hand and kissed it.

"If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it well have been worth it", Alexandra said while blushing.

"I'll leave you to it!", Andrew said, smiling like an idiot.

~One week later~

Elijah and Alexandra write each other nightly. "Now my life gets better every letter that she writes me!", Elijah said to Mar. "I'm ready to laugh at Andrew", Elijah whispered. "I'm just saying if you really loved me you would share her", Andrew said while reading 'Common Sense'. "Ha!", Elijah laughed.

~Two weeks later~

Elijah's heart was fluttering while jumping, as Alexandra was having dinner with his mother. "Our mothers stoned face while Alexandras asking for her blessing.", Mar stared at Alexandra and Phillipa.

"I'm starting to die inside.", Elijah said looking down, "I'm trying not to cry 'cause there's nothing that her mind can't do", Elijah said, starting to feel lucky. "Look! Mama just shook her hand!", Mar yelled. Alexandra came over and went on her knee.

"Elijah, I don't have a dollar to my name, an acre of land, a troop to command, a dollop of fame. All I have's my honor, a tolerance for pain, a couple of college credits and my top-notch brain. Insane, your family brings out a different side of me! Mar confides in me, Andrew tried to take a bite of me", Alexandra said and Elijah looked at Andrew who blushed. "No stress, my love for you is never in doubt!", Elijah nodded, tearing up while Alexandra slid on the ring. "We'll get a little place in Harlem and we'll figure it out! I've been livin' without a family since I was a child, my father left, my mother died, I grew up buckwild, but I'll never forget my mother's face, that was real! And long as I'm alive, Elijah, swear to God, You'll never feel so helpless!", Alexandra said and got off her knee.

~Time skip~

The wedding march played while Alexandra walked down the isle. Elijah watched Alexandra walking down the isle. Girls were singing in harmony "In New York you can be a new girl. In New York you can be a new girl!"
Elijah cried gently and slowly said "I do." Then soon after he said "you've got me helpless"
