I was walking fast as I realized that the pack meeting has started five minutes ago and I cringe at the thought of what the Alpha would say about my tardiness. Well, a few minutes won't hurt I guess besides it's not as if I'm slacking around, I just got home from work. I looked around and noticed that my pack mates were already gathered at the meeting hall which is actually in the Alpha's house. Seeing that the meeting hasn't started yet, I searched for an empty seat while I watched a few boys my age ogle at an unmated she-wolf who was wearing err, clothes that barely covered what needs to be covered. I mentally shook my head and waited for Alpha Jones to come out. No such luck. I began to feel bored. Just a few minutes, I said to myself. If Alpha Jones doesn't come out, I'll just sneak out to get some dinner. I'm really hungry. I haven't eaten my lunch and if this pack meeting doesn't start anytime soon, I'd pass out from hunger. Seconds turned to minutes and there was still no sign of Alpha Jones. A few people smiled at me and I smile in return. I wasn't really popular but I'm no pushover either. I walked out silently, not wanting to catch more attention. Not that I'd catch any, all of them were busy talking to each other and none of them seemed to notice that the meeting should have started 10 minutes ago. I walked towards my house. Yes, 'my' because I was living alone. My parents died because of a rogue attack back when I was just a kid. As I was steps away from my house, I noticed someone standing near the tree. I don't usually mind other people's business but this time I had the urge to approach this stranger. My wolf stirred and I could feel she was happy and excited. I stopped on my tracks as I was able to make out who was the stranger. It was John, the alpha's son. Shit. I would get into trouble if he'd know I snuck out of the pack meeting. I was about to turn around when he spun around, directly meeting my eyes and that was when it me.

'Mate.mate.mate.' My wolf howled with joy because the man who was standing in front of me is our mate. My shock was reflected in his eyes as they widened at the revelation. I've finally found my mate! I was overjoyed and I thought I would explode any moment because of the happiness that I felt. But the spell was broken and my hopes of living a happy ever after with my mate went down the drain when I heard someone speak.

"Hey babe, why are you still here?" the girl asked, oblivious of what's happening. "You go on without me; I'll be with you in a moment." I stood frozen as she kissed him on the cheek and looks at me weirdly before walking back to the pack house. I felt jealous and angry at the same time and I badly wanted to scratch her eyes out for kissing what's mine.

"I'm sorry but what's your name?"

I smiled bitterly. Of course, he doesn't know me.

"Dawn. Dawn Lancaster."

"I, John Moore, reject you Dawn Lancaster as my mate and as the future Luna of this pack"

I clutched my chest as I felt the pain .My heart felt like it was torn into pieces.

"Why?" I managed to ask him despite feeling weak and hurt.

"You are not what I need. You are not what this pack needs."

Listening to him utter these words hurt almost as much as his rejection. He rejected me,just like that.

"Get up. You have to attend the meeting" and with that he started walking away. He looked like he wasn't hurt and like he was unaffected. I stood there, tears strumming down my face with only the silence of the night to comfort me while watching him walk away. I ran after him but I couldn't reach him. He seemed to be farther away from me and I screamed then. A desperate cry escaped from my lips as he was slowly out of my sight -

Suddenly, I woke up shaking and breathing hard from my dream. Yes, it was just a dream, nothing more. There's no use in remembering it anymore. It already happened and there's nothing I could have done. You're okay now. I repeatedly said to myself. I closed my eyes and willed myself to sleep. It took a while but before sleep claimed me, I knew that I wasn't okay. Far from it,actually.
