Piper

Piper pulled out Katoptris, watching the bronze blade gleam in the light. His gladius was already in his hands.

"Bring it on," he challenged, taking a step closer.

Piper rushed forward, not the smartest thing to do when it's dagger against sword. But she had the element of surprise, Jason almost falling back in alarm. She slashed downwards, missing his face by inches. He recovered, dodged to the left and swept the blade in an arc along the ground. Piper jumped, clearing the blade.

While the Argo II was being built they'd had a lot of spare time, most of which they spent fighting. Piper had studied Jason's moves so she knew exactly how to block them. So everything he threw at her she could counter. And vice versa. Plus he would never actually hurt her, Piper was positive he hesitated before each attack.

Jason distracted her by moving the gladius so the sun shone directly into her eye. Piper threw her arms up to block the light. Jason used that advantage and stabbed at her, angling his blade diagonal. At the last minute Piper managed to twist and catch the blow on the hilt of her dagger, something Annabeth had taught her before she left on another attempt to find Percy. He looked surprised and Piper swept her leg around to knock Jason of his feet. He scrambled back up, managing not to impale himself as he did so.

When Jason raised his sword again, she noticed he hadn't even broken a sweat.

So Piper tried another tactic.

She flashed a smile, uttering only five words when Jason's eyes glazed over. He dropped his sword and smiled like a lovestruck satyr. You'd think he'd be used to it by now, but apparently not. Piper slowly forced Jason to the ground, holding her dagger to his chest. She knew it wouldn't take long for him to realize what happened.

"Never let your enemy distract you," Piper whispered, sheathing her dagger before going to get a drink.

It wasn't even a minute when a sword was pressed against her neck, an arm circling her waist.

"Never turn your back on your enemy." He whispered back, in her ear.

Jason lent down and kissed her, leaving her standing there like she'd just been charmspoken herself.
