Chapter 23: Preparing For A War

Just as Nono said, he did not announce anything regarding the exam. So, diner became a quiet affair, with some friends chatting here and there. Once everyone was done, they all went to their rooms to do whatever they wanted. Thus, the day passed and another day began.

"Let's go, mina." Tsuna said after the entire gang gathered inside Tsuna's classroom after classes which was empty as everyone left to rest in their rooms before diner. "We don't want to keep them waiting any longer."

"Everyone's going to arrive today, right?" Emma asked as they walked towards Nono's office, now currently their meeting room. 

"Yes." Tsuna nod. 

"Where will they hide, though?" Emma continued asking, worried that their plan will flunk.

"They will be hiding in the secret roo- yeah, Emma, the practice today was so hard. Fon-sensei was cruel, I feel like my bones will break." Tsuna immediately changed the flow of conversation, acting like he was whining to his friends and not discussing top-notch secret out in the open. Immediately, everyone present narrowed their eyes while keeping their original expressions, stealthily searching for the eavesdropper. After all, it was a rule for them to louden their voices and change the topic if someone was near them.  

"I know right, Tsuna-kun." Emma agreed while keeping his senses open. "Thank goodness we survived."

"Tch, it was easy." Hibari said with arrogance, saying 'tch' to signal that he knows where the person is. Everyone besides the two nod, signaling that they also caught the listener.

"Really?" Tsuna said with a smile, proud that they were able to find the person faster then before.

"Tch." Emma also said, causing Tsuna to nod.

"Oh, wait, I forgot to bring my notes, come with me." he said, causing everyone to nod. Tsuna led them to the eavesdropper, subtly smirking when he saw him come out as if he was innocent.

"Ara, Isao-kun." Kyoko greeted with a sharp smile. "Where are you going?"

"A-ah, K-Kyoko-san, I was going to my room." he stuttered out an excuse.  

"Are you an idiot?" Gokudera said with a raised eyebrow as his fingers twitched. "It's in the other way."

"O-oh, I-I must have made a mistake, then." he said with an awkward laugh before turning 180 degrees. "Bye, then."

He then ran off, causing Tsuna to shake his head in disappointment.

"Seriously." he said with an angry frown. "Why do guilty people always stutter and run away? Like, isn't that making them more of a suspicious person? If they want to act innocent, they should say words with confidence and walk normally. Running away and stuttering are seriously the only clues you need to know that the person is lying. Well, usually."

"Usually?" Hana asked.

"Yeah." Tsuna said with a nod. "I mean, aren't there people who are so socially awkward that their first insticts is to run away when someone approaches and stutters when someone talks to them. Like me from before."

"True." Kyoko said. "But Isao-kun's attitude is so unlike yours."

"Which is why it makes him suspicious." Tsuna said. "Anyway, let's go. We've stalled enough."

They made their way to the office and saw that everyone was present, both in person and on screen.

"Hi, everyone!" Tsuna greeted them.

"Why were you late, dame-Tsuna." Reborn asked with a glare. "Didn't we all agree to meet here after classes?"

"Well, technically, we are here after classes." Tsuna cheekily said, earning a gun shot from Reborn.

"Hey, you can't do that to the future Decimo, Reborn!" Tsuna pouted childishly. "No one will be able to replace me if I die! And, do you really want to babysit another brat?"

"...Fair point." he grunted in annoyance, his Leon gun shapeshifting back into a chameleon. "Anyway, what was your reason for being late."

"We had to shoo a little rat that was snooping around." Tsuna said with a bright smile.

"Rat?" Collonello asked.

"Ah, so he's finally decided on making a move." G said in annoyance. "Damn it, now we have to be more sneaky about all of this."

"Yes." Hana said with a frown. "Annoying insects."

 "Have you all arrived safely?" Tsuna asked those in the screen.

"Yes, Sawada-san." Yuni said with a smile. "We're all here in the hidden room."

"No one saw you, right?" Tsuna asked to make sure their plan will be perfect.

"Yes, ototo." Dino said with a nod. "Don't worry."

"How about Arco-kun and the others?" Tsuna asked.

"Half are in Japan and the other half is waiting for the students to arrive to protect them." Nono said. 

"I see." Tsuna nod. "Well then, let's start."

Thus, another day ended with them preparing for the day. No, in fact, the following days until the exam were like this. They finished classes, Isao stalking them, busting him which causes him to escape, perfecting their plan, sleeping, and the cycle continues. Finally, the day the arcobalenos will leave arrived.

"Listen up, students." Reborn said after the arcobalenos told their students to gather in the gym during breakfast. "Today is the last day of self-defense classes. Alongside it, it will also be the last day for us to teach you."

"No!" the students complained, having grown accustomed with seeing them everyday.

"Don't worry." Fon said with a kind smile. "We will see each other again in the inheritance ceremony of the soon-to-be decimo."

"...Oh." the students all awkwardly said, obviously forgetting the reason why they were in the Vongola Mansion in Italy. 

"But remember, kora!" shouted Collonello. "You should practice what we taught you everyday!"

"Hai!" the students enthusiastically shouted. 

"It's been a long time since I've heard Collonello's favorite word." Tsuna softly whispered, smiling softly.

"That's true, Juudaime." Gokudera nod. Tsuna then turned serious.

"How is Yamamoto?" he asked. "Is he still..."

There was a grim silence in their area, everyone looking down on the ground. 

"I see..." Tsuna said, sadness gleaming in his eyes. 

'Don't worry, Yamamoto.' Tsuna thought while staring at the goodbye speeches of the arcobalenos. 'Soon, you will....'

Finally, the day of the exam was here.
