This isn't fair.

I stood up, a smile gracing my lips as I nervously made my way to the entrance of my home. I knew who stood just beyond that large oak door. My anxiety picked up as I reached for the door knob and threw it open. A familar pair of brown eyes greeted me, causing my heart to speed up. My love for him had grown tremendously in the past six weeks that he hadn't been here. Who knew that being away from someone could make you care for them that much more? I rushed to him, quickly closing the few feet between us and embraced him.

"Matthew." I breathed out lightly, desperately trying to keep the emotion from my voice.

"Hey, babygirl." He mumbled in the same tone.

As his arms held me, I noticed how safe I felt, and how nothing at this moment seemed to matter but us two. Even the fact that I had the flu was a distant thought. It was at this time that I realized I loved Matt, and I was okay with that.

He pulled away and smiled at me. "I love you too."

I tilted my head and gave him a questioning glance to which he just laughed at.

"Huh?"

"You said you loved me." He grinned.

"I did?"

He nodded. I was definitely going to have to work on keeping my thoughts IN my head.

"Oops."

Another slight chuckle erupted from him and he leaned down to kiss me.

"No." I sighed, putting my hand against his face. "I told you, I'm sick."

"Like I care." He moved my hand and gingerly pressed his lips against mine, leaving me with a grin of my own.

I grabbed his hand and giggled, moving over to the stairs.

"Keep the door open!" My brother warned.

"Shut up, Tony!"

I blushed and proceeded up the stairs with Matthew as he chuckled.

Matt's p.o.v.

I followed Soph into her room, plopping down on her bed as she stood in front of me with a small smirk.

"Yes?" I questioned.

"I missed you. A lot."

I gave her a smile and pulled her into my lap. "I missed you too."

She giggled and then kissed my cheek. I went to kiss her, but she held her finger up and stood, leaving me with a pout on my face.

"Hold on." She stated simply before turning her head and letting out the worst cough I had ever heard.

"Soph, are you- are- are you okay?" I mumbled out through her coughing.

She nodded. "I'm just sick."

I stood in front of her and grabbed her shoulders. "Soph, I think-"

My words were cut off as she doubled over, and puked on my shoes. Sighing, I rubbed her back. She really needed to go to the hospital. When she started coughing again I looked down and noticed she wasn't actually throwing up. Crimson liquid covered my shoes and pants. She was coughing up blood.

"TONY!" I yelled quickly.

Nothing.

"TONY! TONY, PLEASE!" I shouted, my voice gaining volume.

The steps creaked as someone bounded up them quickly. My head turned in time to see Anthonie reach the door and stop, in blatant shock of what was on the floor.

"Call an ambulance."

He nodded and my attention went back to my girlfriend.

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry." She whispered, and then fell limp in my arms as she dropped into unconciousness.

Soph's p.o.v.

My eyes fluttered open gently, and feeling slowly returned to my limbs. I felt incredibly weak. A sigh rose from my throat as I glanced around and realized I was in a pristine white room. It was the hospital, obviously. Someone coughed beside me and I turned to look at them.

"Glad you're finally up." He whispered.

I frowned. "Why am I here?"

"Sophia, you coughed up blood and then passed out. I would be a terrible boyfriend if I didn't bring you here."

I was about to say something, but the door opened and a familiar man walked in.

I cocked my head. "Dr. Emerson?"

He gave me a small smile. "Hello, Sophia."

Something about this didn't make sense. Dr. Emerson was a specialist, he didn't see people who had the flu. Matt glanced at me questioningly, but I ignored it.

"What are you doing here?"

"How long have you had that cough for?"

I frowned. "Uhh, a month or so? I'm not sure. Why?"

He sighed and looked down at his clipboard. "Do you remember when your grandmother came to see me?"

"Dammit, stop answering my questions with more questions. What the hell are you doing here?" I growled, tears forming in my eyes.

"You have Stage 2 Large Cell Carcinoma." He whispered.

"Excuse me?"

Large Cell Carcinoma? Why did that sound familiar?

He couldn't look at me as he uttered his next five words.

"Sophia, you have lung cancer."
