A great decade for great songs. 2000's was the year of breaking barriers on the music industry.
10. Apologize
In 2005, OneRepublic released their heavily embodied Pop Rock tune in the radio and soon became a worldwide hit. The song was the biggest radio airplay hit in the history of the Top 40 chart in North America. It even earned them a Grammy nomination. The track also have a remix version featuring Timbaland.
9. I Kissed A Girl
A cheeky song about relationship between girls, made Katy Perry a total breakthrough diva in mainstream media. The song was successfully released but the lyrics was criticized and surrounded by controversy. It even got her some nomination. It's infectious beat, club vibe and catchy chorus made us love Katy Perry.
8. Hey YA!
We can't deny but to dance everytime this song is played. A song from Outkast! was so fun and catchy that it charted No.1 in the US billboard. This was a huge crossover hit, getting lots of play on hip-hop, Top 40 and R&B radio stations. According to the artists, the song is about the difficulty in keeping a relationship together.
7. Bad Romance
It's all weird and crazy as Gaga relased her hit single in 2010, gathering media attention. The club banger was her lead single of her album. The lyrics channels the kind of lusty passion and desire found in a bad romance novel. The song was a 2010 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
6. Crazy In Love
It's was the first collaboration of Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z. This was the only song to top the charts in both the UK and US in 2003. The track talks about how, when you're falling in love, you do things that are out of character and you don't really care because you're just open. The horns were sampled from the 1970 Chi-lites song "Are You My Woman (Tell Me So)."
5. Bring Me to Life
Evanescence brought the song to life as one of the most memorable rock songs of the 2000s. The band won in the category for Best Hard Rock Performance at the Grammy's. The songs was perfectly mixed with the lead singer's vocal points, piano interludes, heavy guitar chords and true emotions.
4. Complicated
The track that introduced us to the pop rock princess, Avril Lavigne. With the lyrics that highlighted the angst of that decade, the song was undoubtedly the most memorable thing of the 2000s. The song received generally positive reviews from critics. In 2009, Rolling Stones voted "Complicated" as the eighth Top single of the decade. The song even top the Adult Mainstream at No. 1
3. Viva LA Vida
The lyrics to the song contain historical and Christian references, and the song is made around a repeating string sections in together with a piano with a timpani background. The instrumentals arrangement was so good and the sweeping lyrics made it better. Coldplay successfully earned some awards on the song. It's a phenomenal pop song of the decade.
2. Welcome to the Black Parade
MCR was so big in that decade and this song is an evidence. It's truly an iconic song from the Golden age of rock. The Goth rock song was a hit among teens and debuted at #71 but later climbed at no #9 on the Billboard. The lyrics are hitting adding Gerard's voice made it better.
1. Lose Yourself
2000s wouldn't be complete without Eminem and this song. "Lose Yourself" received acclaim from music critics, with many critics praising the song's aggressive themes and describing it as Eminem's best work to date. The rock-ish bass line,
hard rock guitar, layered piano, and adrenaline pump lyrics, it was one of the best hip hop songs of all time.
