Awe-inspiring, tender anime tale has mature themes. The story follows a young mother who is left to raise two children, who have human and wolf-like qualities after their werewolf father dies. The movie even won 7 awards across countries.

It's a beautiful and breathtaking movie that some of the architecture seen in the film was inspired by a Welsh mining town. The movie was most tweeted moment in the history of Twitter was during the airing of Castle in the Sky on August 2, 2013 when fans tweeted the word "balse" at the exact time that it played in the movie. There was a global peak of 143,199 tweets in one second.
7. Boruto: Naruto the Movie
Boruto: Naruto the Movie is the eleventh overall Naruto film, made to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the franchise. The film was the 11th highest-grossing Japanese film. It was a commercial success, surpassing it's predecessor.
6. Grave of the Fireflies
Japanese animation WWII tragedy, being the saddest. Cartoon. Ever. Critics review this as "An achingly sad anti-war film" and "one of Studio Ghibli's most profoundly beautiful, haunting works". The movie's plot spins around the story of two siblings, and their desperate struggle to survive during the final months of the Second World War.
5. Akira
Akira depicts a dystopian version of Tokyo in the year 2019, with cyberpunk tones. The plot focuses on teenage biker Tetsuo Shima and his psychic powers, and the leader of his biker gang, Shotaro Kaneda. Extremely violent classic introduced anime to Westerners.

Epic, compelling, and violent anime. The story follows a young warrior, Ashitaka's involvement, in a struggle between forest gods and the humans who consume its resources. The term "Mononoke" is not a name, but a Japanese word for a spirit or monster.

When an unconfident young woman is cursed with an old body by a spiteful witch, her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a self-indulgent yet insecure young wizard and his companions in his legged, walking castle. The film appeared on many critics' top ten lists of the best films of 2005, and also won 8 awards in total.

Beautifully animated fantasy about friendship fit for all. The story tells a story of two young daughters of a professor and their interactions with friendly wood spirits in postwar Japan. The movie and its titular character, Totoro, have become cultural icons and won several awards.

The movie tells the story of a ten-year-old girl who, while moving to a new neighborhood, enters the spirit world. After her parents are transformed into pigs by a witch, the girl takes a job working in a bathhouse to find a way to free herself and her parents and return to the human world. The movie received positive reviews from critics telling it fresh and entertaining. It became the most successful film in Japanese history, grossing about $289 million worldwide. The film even overtook Titanic at the top grossing film worldwide in the Japanese box office. It also won the Award for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards. It's one memorable Anime Film.
