"And now we have defeated the worst enemy to ever walk this earth. The Light has been vanquished and the Shadows have prevailed. I welcome you, my children, to the dawn of the Dark Era." The Shade turned back to me, sneering my name as if it were a curse. "Well, Commander Shai, any last words before your pitiful existence comes to an end?"
"Yes," I said, proud that my voice didn't betray any of the fear I was feeling, "who are you, really?" No-one knew exactly who The Shade was, and I was determined to be the first. But the cloaked woman in front of me just laughed and bent so her face was level with mine.
"Oh Shai, you know exactly who I am. Who is the only person in the world that could outsmart the great Shai Jarrana?"
Shock reverberated through my bones. No, this could not be happening. There was no way that this evil, scarred, psychopathic person in front of me could be... No, it was just to absurd. "No, that can't be true." I whispered.
The Shade smirked and backed away, rising up to her full height. "My children, we are gathered here, in what is to be the capital of my new Empire, to witness the death of Commander Shai Kali Jarrana, Leader of those who called themselves the Light. We have won this battle and defeated our enemies once and for all. But this is war, and there are no winners in war. One side only loses a little less. We mourn all those who have died in this past Grey War. I hereby accuse Commander Jarrana of their murders, and sentence her to death in the eyes of the Law. Remember, my children, we may have defeated our greatest enemy, but as my grandma always said; the greatest enemy of mankind is man..." And the last thing I heard as the blade came down on my neck was a whisper in my ear saying, "And thus my own greatest enemy is me."

I'm not really sure where this came from, but I thought of that quote thing at like 3am last night and couldn't get it out of my head, so I wrote this.
