Chapter 1
Amy
I bent over to wipe the table for the fifth time tonight. My feet throbbed from standing on them for four hours in heels that added a few inches to my height. Men's eyes watched me like a hawk, copping a feel every time I walked by.
For the tenth time tonight I looked at the clock that sat on top of the bar. One hour to go. That hour would go faster if I wasn't still hung over from the night before and I was in the mood for working. But like always, I wasn't either of those things.
I needed to learn about priority making but strangely that wasn't on my priority list.
I swerved my way through the tables trying to see with the little glow of light the bar gave you. In the corner of the room, drunks sat egging me over, but their wedding rings was a clear stay away sign.
"Why don't you try bending over my lap some time?" One called out making my face cringe at the idea.
I've bent over a man's knees a number of times in my life but they always gave a different reaction. A feeling of wetness that I currently did not feel.
"Yeah sweet heart, why don't you swing that little booty of yours this way."
My jaw tightened as my hands started to shake. I was a pretty happy person. A rain of sunshine on good days. But I hated being talked to like a piece of meat by married guys. Not only are they showing disrespect to me but also to their wives.
"Okay, gentleman," I started, acting warmly as I moved over to them.
The three of them licked their lips and sat up, hoping for me to give them a little slap. No way in hell.
"And while I'm giving you three a lap dance, who's looking after your wives."
I watched as guilt washed over all their faces. It was a good thing. Only assholes don't feel anything.
"Go home to your –."
"Amy!" I turned at the sound of my boss's voice.
Scot stood at the bar, looking annoyed as always. We never saw eye-to-eye. Mainly because he was just as bad as the rest of them.
"Yes, Scot?" I asked, batting my eye lids and moving up and down on my tippy toes.
The simple crook of his finger towards him gesturing me to come to him was enough to make me groan and roll my eyes. Why must every guy be such a pain in the ass at two o'clock in the morning?
"Oh come on Scot," I groaned once I was close to him, "That was verbal abuse right there."
"Amy, that was your last warning," he told me.
I opened my mouth to speak but couldn't get it through my head.
"Wait," I said, half chuckling, "Are you firing me?"
"Come on Amy," Scot started turning to wipe down the bar.
I quickly followed him, not letting him get away.
"No, you come on. I'm a hard worker," I told him.
He scoffed, "Is this when you turn up?"
"Hey, I was on time yesterday," I stated, surely.
"Okay, fine, once a week you turn up. But then you're rude to customers."
Now it was my turn to scoff, "You mean drunk married guys. And they were rude to me first!"
"I don't care, Amy," he said cutting me off, "Get your stuff and get out."
