(Only fitting to have all time low lyrics.)
Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
And this is my reaction to everything I fear
'Cause I've been going crazy, I don't wanna waste another minute here - All Time Low, Weightless. The crowd was lit. They had an amazing set list and seemed to know what they were doing. I didn't know any of the songs but I reckoned that if they were going to get signed anytime soon (which they should.) then they could be on the radio within a week.
Meagan was jumping up and down with the rest of the crowd. I watched. Then she grinned at me, took hold of my hand and started to move her hips in time.
"Come on! Dance with me Pete!"
"I don't dance!" I shouted back.
She raised a eyebrow and started trying to get me to move. In the end I gave in. I spun her around and after half an hour I was really into it, laughing breathlessly and my arms around her waist. Then the band changed to a sad song.
"He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days
Leaning now into the breeze"
She stopped dancing, gave me a look and whispered in my ear.
"I hate sad songs; let's go outside."
I nodded mutely and followed her to a little alcove outside. You can still hear the band."Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in"We didn't do much. Just kind of stared up at the sky. I watched her. I like the way she bites her lip when she's concentrating, the way her eyes light up when she's happy, the way she dances. Oh fuck, the way she dances.
"Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They're filling his gut""Do you ever just want to stop thinking?"
I was surprised when the words left my mouth. She turns to look at me.
"What do you mean?"
I sighed.
"Well, when you know that sometimes knowing something is not a good idea, but you carry on thinking about it like a hobby, and then before you know it, you've dangerously overthought it and it's going to pull you down with it."She bit her lip again. "You mean like a generator."
I frowned. "Do I?"
"Yeah." She smiled. "It slaves away on the same thing for the whole of its life, creating energy, because that's what people have told it it is for. But it's slowly destroying the planet. You know, greenhouse gases and all that. But that's what the generator has been made to do. It can't help that. And even by the time it does, it's too late."I pondered on it.
"Yeah I suppose you're right."
Then I leant in and full on kissed her, and I felt like in the end the only things left were us and the stars, blinking dangerously in the dark."Well I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home."
