"Bronx!" Meagan's voice echoes down the stairs. "Get your butt back up here or we are not going to see that film at all."
"You better go bud." He just sits on the sofa fully absorbed in his Xbox game, like he didn't even hear us.

"Bronx!" I scoop him up off the sofa, his hands still clutching the controller. "Meagan told you to clean your teeth an hour ago. If you don't go and do them now, then we simply won't go see ninja turtles and that means we also won't be able to eat out afterwards."
He moans at me.
"Okay, daddy I'm going."

I watch him plod upstairs then put the Xbox controller on the coffee table and switch off the TV. I turn around to see her come downstairs, struggling with a hairbrush.

"Looks like Bronx isn't the only one having trouble getting ready." I grin, "Want some help?"
She raises her eyebrows at me.
"Honestly Pete, like I could ever rely on you to help with hair." Meagan says, tugging it free and tying it into a high pony.

I have a deal with the media. They can snap as many pics as they want of us but if they get Bronx's face in any then I have the right to sue. He is only a kid for crying out loud. It's not his fault that it was Ashley and I who chose to have him. Not that he was ever planned. We got into a pickle. We were too young to marry but by the time we realised it was too late I had slept with her so many times that she was three weeks pregnant. Glad we had him in the end though.

As we cross into the red carpet my boy smiles at them all behind their lenses. It's the premier of teenage mutant Ninja turtles two and a friend of a friend invited us to come. A series of cooing arises. He must still think that they are there for him. Like father like son. I smile genuinely, and a mob of camera flashes go off in my face.

We eat out at a place called the snug. It's good. I order a steak and chips, Bronx a kids fish and chips and Meagan a Caesar salad with chips, and a side of garlic bread. I treat Bronx to an ice cream and Meagan and I share a sundae. However it's her who finishes it.
"You are really hungry today." She blushes. I'm only pointing it out because she's a model, and has to keep her weight down. Personally I don't care what she eats. But it's never this much.
"I skipped breakfast."
