Fake Smiles (Jaele)

The Dinner pt.2

I put on a fake smile (along with concealer) and went back to the others. Once I went out the bathroom Jace came over instantly.

Jace: You ok?

I'm not but he won't know that. I won't let him know that.

Riele: Yeah I'm fine

I said kissing his cheek. He gave me a smile.

Jace: Oh yeah I ordered your food

I gulped nervously. I really hope it's not too big.

Riele: Oh that's good... Uh... What did you order?

Jace: I got you the same as me but I got yours small

A burger?! Is that his idea of a small meal?! Even the small ones are pretty freaking big!

Riele: Oh... Ok

I said kinda awkwardly.

Jace: What's wrong?

He asked me worried. Yeah... I'm not telling him.

Riele: Nothing. I'm just a very awkward person

He laughed a little bit.

Jace: True.... But that's one of the many reasons I love you

He held onto my waist. I giggled and blushed.

Riele: Stop it. You're making me blush...

I looked down to hide it. I've never told anyone this but I really hate blushing. When I blush I look really weird...

Jace: Don't hide that beautiful face Rie

He said lifting my head up. We both began to lean in but just as we were about to kiss someone ran into me knocking both me and Jace on the floor.

Maeve: OMG! I'm so sorry Jace!

Of course...

Jace: No biggie

He said getting up. Once he was up he helped me up but before I was fully off the ground Maeve happened.

Maeve: So Jacey I haven't talked to you in like a month! Tell me EVERYTHING that's happened.

She demanded dragging Jace away, which made me fall down AGAIN. I let out a small groan as I hit my head. Isabela came a couple seconds later and held out her hand. I very gladly took it. Once I was up she sighed.

Isabela: Sorry about Maeve. She still has a crush on Jace and you dating him is really making her... Well... Coo coo

She said with the hand gesture. I looked at Maeve and frowned. She's totally flirting with him and he doesn't even see it.

Riele: Yup....

Isabela: Don't worry. She'll get over him eventually

Riele: I hope

Suddenly I Want You To Know starts playing.

I smiled as I saw other couples dance to the song.

Riele: I'll talk to you in a bit Issy. I'm gonna see if Jace wants to dance.

Isabela: Ok I'll see if Owen wants to dance

She walked away and I made my way over to Jace but Maeve was already dancing with him.

I'm not mad at him. I can tell he doesn't want to dance with her but I can't help but feel sad. Why is every girl after him?

I looked down and sat at our table watching everyone else dance. Owen and Isabela were dancing together, Sean and Jade were dancing together. Jaheem was dancing with a girl he met like 20 minutes ago. I'm alone...

Isabela: Hey

Isabela said siting next to me.

Riele: Oh hey. Why aren't you dancing?

I asked curiously.

Isabela: I noticed you weren't dancing so I thought I'd keep you company. Also, my feet are totally killing me.

We both started laughing.

Riele: Thanks

Isabela: Where's Jace? I thought you were gonna dance with him

I couldn't help but look at Maeve and Jace. Isabela followed my gaze. Once she realized what was happening she gave me a tiny side hug.

Isabela: I'm so sorry Riele

Riele: Eh it's fine. I mean, I know I'm not the only girl in his life but seeing him dance with them and stuff like that... It just hurts a little

I looked at them again and sighed... It really hurts.

Isabela gave me a sympathetic look.

Isabela: You ok?

I was so tempted to say no. To just break down right there and then. Insecurity is all I feel now days. I'm so close to completely falling apart but I don't. I struggle to hold myself together yet somehow I do it. When people ask me about how I'm feeling I always say I'm fine and seal the deal with a fake smile.

Riele: Yeah I'm fine

Isabela: You sure?

She asked not buying any of it.

Riele: I said I'm fine!

I snapped.

Riele: Sorry it's just...

Isabela: Don't worry I get it

She smiled at me.

Riele: Ok now go dance with Owen

I said shooing  her away. She hesitated but I insisted. So that's how I was for a while. By myself. The only thing that changed within the next 10 minutes was the song. Eventually I got tired of being invisible but just as I was about to get up to leave someone tapped my shoulder.

????: May I have this dance?

Riele: Sorry but I have a boyfriend

I said grabbing my purse.

????: Oh so you're cheating on me with another boy?

He chuckled.

Riele: Wha-

I looked up to see Jace.

Riele: Oh it's just you

I smiled.

Jace: Yup. So can have this dance or not?

He asked me. I continued to smile.

Riele: Of course

I got up and we began to dance. In the middle of the song something came over me and I decided to ask a question.

Riele: Why are you dancing with me? Weren't you dancing with Maeve?

Jace: Well I was but then I noticed this gorgeous girl sitting all by herself. I couldn't just let her sit there. I HAD to go dance with her before some jackass asked.

He grabbed my hand and spun me around. I couldn't help but laugh. Once he spun me he pulled me in and smirked.

Jace: Oh and this is for earlier

Before I could say anything else he kissed me. I kissed back and wrapped my arms around his neck. I admit I don't exactly feel like I fit in with these people but when he kissed me I forgot. Everything was completely perfect.

We pulled away and continued to dance. I glanced at Maeve giving me a death stare. She mouthed 'Watch your back'

Oh and just imagine Hard Rock Cafe has a mini dance floor or something.
