H- SHE'S WHAT?!?!?
S- Harvey I'm gonna need you to calm down.
H- Calm down? CALM DOWN???
D- Oh geez here we go again.
H- MY ENTIRE HAPPINESS JUST GOT FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET AND YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN?!?!?!?!
D- Honestly I think you're overreacting.
H- DO YOU NOT CARE?!?!?!? DOES THIS INFORMATION MEAN NOTHING TO YOU?
S- Honestly it doesn't. What's done is done, can't change the past.
D- Exactly, why dwell on what you can't change right?
R- You're correct little lady.
H- This is unbelievable, my own family doesn't give two fu-
S- Harvey.
H- Frocks, two frocks about what we just learned.
R- Well, no. It was just Mario Kart dude.
H- Just Mario Kart?!?!?!? I'm done.

Harvey groaned and threw his arms up dramatically falling into the couch. We all laughed as he pouted and crossed his arms my laughter dying down faster than it should've as my facial expression visibly fell. The kids hadn't noticed yet but Ruby did and she looked at me with worry written all over her face. I sighed and looked at the kids gaining their attention before they started the next race.

S- Hey guys I uh, I need to tell you something.

The kids looked at me with smiles that slowly disappeared when they saw the look of sadness on my face. I really hate to dampen their mood right now but I can't just not tell them.

H- Mom, why are you crying?
D- Is everything ok?

I wiped my nose and shook my head. I looked up at Ruby who sat quietly on the floor across the room watching me cautiously. I looked at the kids and tapped the empty space next to me on the couch.

S- Come here.

As they settled on the couch I ran through tons of ways I could do this. My knees are weak and my palms are sweating, I began to speak hoping that my voice wasn't too shaky for them.

S- Remember when I said that your mom and I had business to take care of?

The kids nodded slowly, still confused as to where this conversation was headed.

S- Well that wasn't completely true.
D- What do you mean?
S- Um... well D, we had a very dangerous situation occur a few weeks ago.
H- How dangerous?
S- Criminal Minds dangerous.

Harvey's face contorted into a slight worried grimace. Dinah was still waiting for my point as she stared at my face practically burning holes into my cheek. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.

S- What I'm trying to say is-

Ruby let out a loud groan grasping our attention. She looked frustrated and annoyed with the situation and stood up rubbing her face.

R- Christ Boebi, just tell them how you're the reason your wife and their mother is dead!

My eyes shut immediately as I dropped my head into my hands taking a deep breath.

D- What did you say?
H- You don't know what you're talking about.

I heard Ruby sigh and curse under her breath before she continued speaking.

R- There was no business trip, there never was a business trip. But I'll tell you what there was. You wanna know why only Stevie came back?

I looked up from my hands practically shooting daggers at her with my eyes.

S- Ruby.
R- Listen I'm all for breaking it to them gently but I'm so tired of staying on this topic for every single one of our conversations. So with all due respect, shut it.
