“Hello?” Still groggy, I pick up my phone.
“Morning, Ash!” Phil’s voice, still cheerful as always, comes through the other end. I knew who it was without looking. We’ve talked every day since he left a month ago.
“I’ve only been up for a half hour! Go away!” Even though I act mad, I smile while talking.
“Guess what!?” He meows, and I can almost hear him jumping up and down.
“You’re such a child, Phil. And what?”
“Remember that I said I might have a surprise for you? Well I do!”
“What is it?”
“I convinced him, Ash! I convinced Dan to move to America with me! Now I can come live by you and see you every day!!!” I almost drop the phone, my mouth gaping open. “And not just on webcam!” I can hardly speak, but I manage to utter a small inhuman squeak. I’ve never been this happy. “Ashley?”
Taking a deep breath, I blurt out, “OH MY GOSH PHIL THATS SO AMAZING WHEN’S YOUR FLIGHT I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU AH I LOVE YOU!”
“I have no idea what you said! I'll text you later, I gotta go. Bye!” He hangs up the phone, and I squeal with excitement.
“Shut up Ashley!” Natalie screams from the other room. “I’m trying to sleep!”
“Never! Phil’s moving here!” I bound over to the couch and lay down on it, thinking of how great it will be once my boyfriend is here.
Wait...boyfriend? I said “I love you” on the phone, too didn’t I?
