When I wake up, I feel a cool draft on my back. I try to pull up the covers further over my body, but discover that I can’t move my hands. I try to say something, but I am gagged as well. My senses finally unblur, and I realize that I am naked on my bed. The room smells of...naughty things...and it is very warm under my covers. I shift my body slightly, but realize that there is something touching my leg...I can’t even finish the thought, knowing exactly what it is.

“Morning.” Aaron’s gritty, deep voice whispers into my ear. He starts stroking my hair. “You have a good time last night?” I feel like crying, but know I have to stay strong this time. That’s what phil told me to do from now on. Don’t show weakness, just let him think you don’t care. Even if Phil just meant online...

I want to say something sassy, but the gag is stopping me. Aaron moves closer, and I can smell his Axe, which makes me sick. He starts to plant kisses up my neck. I start to squirm, which he mistakes for pleasure, but eventually free my hands from their tie above my head. “You like that, little bitch? Told you you’re a slut.” He hasn’t noticed my hands yet, so I take the opportunity to bring them down and punch him in the eye. He freaks out, and I jump out of the bed, but fall to the floor. My feet are tied too. I quickly free myself, also removing the gag. My brain tells me to run, but this is my house.

I grab my phone, quickly dialing 911. Before I can find a way to stop Aaron, he opens the window, jumping out of the second floor-window. Peeking outside, I see that he’s gone. I explain everything that has just happened to the dispatcher, and she tells me that someone will come over for some more information. Once I am told I can hang up, I get dressed and wait downstairs.

The police are searching for him now. Since they left, I have all the doors double-locked, sitting under a blanket shaking. My phone rings, and I shakily pick it up, tears rolling down my face. I almost drop my phone, but answer it. “Ph-Phil?”

“Oh my god, Ashley, are you Ok? You sound terrible!” I look down at my red arm.

“No.” I don’t want to go into detail, but he can know I’m not Ok. “And I’m going to go to my parents tomorrow. I’m staying there until the day after you’re back. So don’t call here.” I can barely speak, my voice hoarse from all the tears. “I’ll explain later...maybe. Listen, I’ll talk to you tomorrow, ok? Sorry, love you.”

“Ok...But you better explain.” I mutter a consent in reply, hanging up.

I take the back roads on the way to my parents’, not wanting to get into an accident. I don’t drive much as it is, but also I’m so distracted...

When I pull into their driveway, my sister comes running out of the front door, jumping on me as I get out of my car. “Hey kiddo.” I rub her head, and she climbs in the back seat, trying to juggle my suitcase. it’s half her size and twice her weight, so watching her attempt is hilarious.

Letting my sister “help” and take the suitcase, I hug my mom at the door. “Hi, mom.”

“I haven’t seen you in forever, Ashley. How are you doing?”

My throat clenches. “Fine.”

“So what made you come over so early? You weren’t supposed to be here until Thursday!”

“Yaknow...Extra family time.” I force a smile. Phil is the only one I know who knows about Aaron, and I don’t plan on changing that soon.

“Well it’s really great to see you!” She hugs me again, pushing me inside. “I think Sam’s somewhere on the stairs. I’ll let you get settled in. Brunch in an hour.” Walking upstairs, I see my sister struggling on the second step, unable to move my luggage. I take it from her, walking the rest of the way up.

“Hmph.” She crosses her arms, but I ignore her.

I get into my room, adorned as I left it last time I visited, and unpack my bag. I plug in my phone, it having died last night, and start hanging up some of my clothes. once I finish, my phone beeps. On the screen is a message notification. I tap it. ‘Aaron: Guess you don’t value your life, slut. Guess I’ll just wait for your boyfriend. Kill him instead.’ Only one thought crosses my mind as I shatter my phone on the ground. “Fuck.”
