My lips immediately turns up into a smile the moment I spot Thayer sitting there in the cafeteria. I make my way towards him as fast as I could without seeming too eager and take a seat across from him on the table.
"They finally let you out," I say looking at him.
"Not completely out of this sanitarium but at least I'm not locked in my room anymore so I guess this is nice," he comments and I glare at him playfully. He should at least be thankful that we will no longer be risking anything by sneaking out every midnight.
I get up from my seat to get my lunch and returns back to where Thayer is. He's already halfway through his food when I come back.
I look at him, he looks stressed out. His hair had grown long and it has a messy look on it, the kind of messy that screams bed hair. There are bags underneath his eyes, which is getting worse now. I have bags underneath my eyes too, and as much as I hate having that, I can't do much anything about it. I've been staying awake in the middle of the night, so what would I expect?
I probably lost weight too. My then thin arms became even more thinner based on my judgments. I look back at Thayer and noticed he lost his weight too. I take a bite on my food, wondering what would be the turn of events if we ever escape this place successfully.
"Where's Mike?," Thayer asks out of the blue breaking the silence between us. I look over the door of the cafeteria and Mike isn't there. I just shrug.
"Are you sure we can trust him?," he asks, doubt still obvious. I roll my eyes at him, sighing.
"I already told you, we can," I answer, "isn't him helping us out every time still isn't a valid proof for you?"
He raises his hands up in the air, "whoa don't get all mad, I was just asking."
"Asking the same question since three nights ago," I counter taking another bite on my lunch.
It has been three nights since we-- I-- told Mike about everything, about our plan of escape and whatnot. And he agreed on helping. After that night, he would also go inside Thayer's room and then we'd talk. Albeit he's just like listening the whole time, at the end when I'd go back to my room he would offer some thoughts and suggestions, and I'm pretty sure we can trust him.
It's just Thayer who is so irritatingly doubtful.
"Oh come on don't be mad," Thayer says afterwards.
"I'm not mad"
"Yes you are," he says chuckling a little, "let me make it up to you."
I raise my eyebrows at him questioning, "I'm not mad okay. But if I am, what are you suggesting?"
"We'll find your records tomorrow," he states, and that instantly made the smile go back to my face. It is a great news for me, and I feel excited already.
