"Ha! Zane-kun can't do anything!" Kawaii-chan squealed as she finally swiped her phone, taking advantage of Zane's surprise. "EVERYONE KNOWS, Zane-kun! EVERYONE KNOWWWSS!!"
"N-No way!" Zane growled. "I don't like Katelyn! I was just helping her out! She had a sprained ankle! That's it!"
"Suuure..." Kawaii-chan drawled skeptically, sprinting away. "Bye, Zane-kun! Haha!"
Katelyn watched, from where she sat, eyebrows raised in skepticism. Did Zane like Kawaii-chan? He was definitely spending a lot of time there.... What the-Katelyn thought in shock. When did I begin to think like- like THAT?
Zane jogged back to where Katelyn sat, where she frowned up at him, seeming conflicted. He helped her up and had her drape her arm around his shoulder again. She complained. Zane retorted with a comment on her indifference to general life.
"Whatever, I don't care," Katelyn snorted. "Also, you BETTER not have told Kawaii-chan that we like each other. This is the worst day of my life! You, of all people! Gross."
"YES, me of all people," snapped Zane, scowling. "I could ask Travis to help you home, if you want! His house is just across the street from yours!"
"Fine," retorted Katelyn, who almost stumbled as Zane corrected course for Travis's house. "Wait, where are you g- you COULDN'T have been serious! Don't let anyone see us like this!"
"Why, embarrassed?" growled Zane, offended. "Everyone knows we're not together right now and only Kawaii-chan is that nuts, okay? My Irene, you're cynical!"
"Excuse me! I AM NOT CYNICAL!And did you say 'not together right now?' More like 'not together for the rest of our human lives!" hissed Katelyn angrily. She wondered if that were true, or if... No. No.
"Who says I'm human?" said Zane, smirking. "Besides, if you don't want anyone t-"
"Let me down! Hide in the bushes! Someone's coming!" Katelyn suddenly interrupted, as they walked - or limped - up to her house. "Hurry, Zane! It could be Kawaii-chan!!"
That was enough incentive for Zane, who hunched a little to allow Katelyn to slip her arm off his shoulders before dashing off into the bushes, diving headfirst into the row of greenery beside the porch. The door slammed open, and Kawaii-chan burst out, Aphmau in tow.
"AHA! Wait... Katelyn-sama? Wh-Where is Zane-kun? Weren't you... with him?" Kawaii-chan queried. "Did he... Oh nooo! Kawaii-chan wanted to show Aphmau-senpai! Ohhhh...."
"No, Kawaii-chan, please," Aphmau said, wrenching her hand away. "They might not be together, like Aaron and me in high school. He was annoying back then, a little. Haha.... Like Zane and Katelyn. They aren't together. But if they are, then... OooOoOOoooOh!"
"APHMAUUU!" Katelyn growled. "WE are NOT together! And we are NOT like you and Aaron! Okay? We will NEVER be together. EVER!"
Zane nodded in the bush, smirking in agreement. He remembered high school. Urgh. It had been SO obvious that they'd liked each other. Also, why had he been so obsessed with the Shadow Knights? That would never be answered. Zenix had really been an idiot.
Katelyn scowled. Then, pushing past Kawaii-chan, who was frenetically fangirling over her barely floating ship. Katelyn limped inside, cursing as she tripped over the top step. Zane bit his lip to keep from snickering.
Kawaii-chan chased Katelyn up the stairs, wailing about Zane and her. Aphmau, shaking her head, slipped back into the house, closing the door behind her. Zane dashed away, cursing his darkly colored clothing. Katelyn, in her room, slammed the door in Kawaii-chan's face and shouted some rather deterring things.
