ANOTHER NAME GOES UP IN LIGHTS, LIKE DIAMONDS IN THE SKY

-

At seventeen, Luke stared out of the window, watching people and trees and house pass by. They were on Luke's first world tour--currently in America on the tour bus.

The air was thick with smoke as his band passed around a joint. Luke didn't want to go near any of that, ever, in his entire life. He hated drugs and he'd barely drank.

Luke rested his head against the sofa, staring as everyone walked around with such freedom but Luke couldn't even go find a bathroom, or get some food without being followed.

People had started realising Luke was famous and he had fans and he loved his fans, because they supported him through anything, even after only a year since his first song came out on the radio. He had an album out that went straight to number one and he was happy--in that aspect at least.

"Hey Ryder!"

Luke didn't turn around because it wasn't his name.

"Adams, are you listening?"

Some touched Luke's shoulder and he turned to his band, who were all looking at him. "What?"

"You okay bud?" One asked, he was Luke's drummer.

"'M fine," Luke turned back around and saw they were approaching the next city for his tour so he stood up and grabbed his phone, walking out of the lounge area and towards the bunks.

He sat in his bunk, which was furthest from anyone in his band or crew. He called his mums number and waited, unsure of the time back in Australia.

She answered after a few rings, making Luke grin because sometimes she couldn't answer because of time differences. "Luke honey." She said, sounding tired.

"Did I wake you?" He asked softly, picking his knees up and pressing them to his chest as someone walked past him. He probably looked like a scare kid out of place.

"It's fine honey." Meaning he had woken her up but he was her baby and didn't care. "How are you?"

"I'm okay," Luke answered, "we're coming in to another city now and I just wanted to call so you can wish me good luck on stage to night."

"Well you don't need it because you always do good onstage." She said making Luke smile stiffly. He loved his mum to bits, "but how are you really? Please don't lie to me."

"I haven't slept properly in a while and I'm tired as hell." Luke admitted. By a while, it meant he hadn't actually slept in a week, naps were his only saviour.

"When you have your next break in the tour, spend it looking after yourself, yeah?"

Luke nodded to himself, "yeah I'll try."

Meaning, he wouldn't even get a chance.

Slowly we see Luke's rise to fame but downfall to his mental stability
