THEY SAY YOU BROUGHT A BUNCH OF LAND SOMEWHERE
-
Luke had been in his new house for a few days now and he still slept on his little pillow pile, but he didn't mind, he'd slept in a bunk for a long time so he could wait for a bed.
Michael had come over most days with fast food takeout for Luke. He didn't know about Luke, only that he'd run away from somewhere and was new to town.
So Michael was showing Luke around town, so Luke wasn't completely useless in finding his way around town. They went down to the port first, the boats ranged from big to small.
The two boys were eating ice cream as they walked, Michael explaining about the small town in which he grew up in. Luke watched fondly as he talked about Goolwa being Australia's first inland port and how much he knew about such a small town.
Michael quickly caught Luke staring and laughed. He went to Luke's side, "how old are you Luke?"
"I'm twenty seven." Luke answered.
"I'm twenty one." Michael replied.
"At least you can drink anywhere you like." Luke smiled, making Michael chuckle. "Is there any places here to get furniture?" He questioned, because well, he needed a bed.
"Not in this town, you'd have to go in to Adelaide or order online." Michael said.
"I'd rather order online." Luke didn't want to head in to the city incase he was spotted, even when he tried to hide he was always spotted.
"Yknow my mum could help out with the decoration, she loves painting and designing, if she could she'd paint our house every other week." Michael grinned. Luke could tell Michael was close with his parents and with being an only child, it made him even closer to his parents.
At least they both have something in common--mummy's boys.
"That'd be great, I can't paint to save my ass." Luke said.
The two went to get lunch, finding a small cafe tucked between a bank and a flower shop. They sat in a window and Luke stirred his coffee, Michael had a banana smoothie and a tea cake.
"So what made you move here?" Michael questioned.
Luke looked up at Michael, "I had to get away from somewhere, to have a little happiness. I wanted some quiet too."
"What were you doing that made you sad?" Michael asked, "if you mind me asking?"
"I just—" Luke said before stopping, "I was used and I didn't want that anymore. I'm human, I'm not merchandise that can be brought."
Michael stared at Luke, "you're a mystery, I need to learn more about you."
"I don't mind you snooping." Luke smiled.
He was sure him and Michael would get along great.
