Sakura's parents have to do a Euope business trip, for who-knows-how-long and her parents planned her to move to Japan with her father's friend, Mr. Mao. She is unsure about the trip and was nervous to move into a different country. At first she...
Today they didn't go to school with Akio's bike. The snow melted when the sun was out. She was calm and collected on their way back to the cafe as she held Akio's hand.
At first, it was awkward and messed up but she got the hang of adjusting her hand with his.
Once they first walked in, Mr. Mao was in the kitchen, premaking some dough. The phone rang and Kai quickly ran to the phone and picked it up.
"You're calling the Penguin Cafe, my name is Sakura, how may I help you?" It was the same elder woman that called this morning.
"Hello Sakura, it's Itsuki. I'm the lady who called you this morning about my grand-daughters gift."
"Oh how I'm lucky to talk to you!" Kai added happily. "Was there any changes?"
"The order no. I just have a problem picking up my order. My car broke down today and it couldn't be fixed for about 4 days."
"Aww bummer... Well we can help you!"
Akio and Mr. Mao darted their eyes at her as their conversation continued.
"We can drop it off for you."
"Oh really? Thank you very much."
"Your welcome." Itsuki then hanged up before she placed the phone down to see Akio facepalm and Mr. Mao covering his face shaking his head. Automatically realizing her mistake she banged her head against the door sill. "Baka. Baka. Baka."
"It's fine." Mr. Mao finally sighed "We'll just send her both 10 macaroons and 10 macarons. And ask her for which one."
Kai lifts up her head to see her forehead all red. "You won't be able to take orders from the phone for a while now.." Mr. Mao said patting her back before he walked to the register making her lean her forehead against the door sill.
Akio finishes up with the premade dough Mr. Mao was making and walks over to Kai, placing his hand on her shoulder. "You don't know much about Macaroons and Macarons, don't you."
She shook her head, not removing her head from the door sill. "C'mon, get your notebook. Imma teach you a lesson."
She peers up at him as he had a bored face, with his eyes insisting her. He gets bored easily doesn't he. She thought and decided to go to the study room upstairs.
A part of a wall was surrounded with recipes written on lined paper and photos that must belong to the recipe. She never entered this room as it was always locked with its light on. This must've been the place where they brainstorm ideas. She thought as her eyes laid on a recipe. 'Raspberry Velvet Confetti Macarons' it looks good, but kinda sounds gross...
Kai and Akio sat across from each other on the long birch table as the paper was laid out in front of her and her journal.
"When it comes to cooking and baking. It evolves with all the classes you've been involved with. Math, Science, Language Arts, History, and P.E. Let's start with history!-"
"Yay! I have my own senpai!"
Akio's eyes was in shock as he took a step back, making Kai very confused "You don't know what that means don't you?" he said.
"Nope. I would only see it in anime and manga's." she answered bluntly "Like someone would be like, Wow! I hope senpai notices me this year! Usually being a teacher." she said imitating an anime girl with a high squeaky voice. "What does senpai mean?"
"Senpai means, someone who will never notice you!"
Hours later...
"Macarons requires patience, skill, and practice to get it right; a key step called "macaronage"- ground almonds and sugar are carefully folded into the meringue-"
Soft snores come from behind Akio's back as he turns around to see Kai calmly asleep. He faintly grins and takes off his coat and places it on her for warmth.
