Sakura woke up to the ringing to her vintage brass alarm clock and gave it a tap.
This was the first day of school and she was filled with mixed emotions. She got up from her bed, kicking the blankets off her legs and tiptoes her way through the cold hallways.
Once finished she put on her school outfit and jogged down the stairs to see Akio already awake.
"Yo." he wore a white collar shirt and his black apron, peers over to her with a streak of flour on his forehead holding a peace sign. And continued massaging the dough on the floured surface.
"Hey." she said as she got a whiff of the warm, sweet fresh baked breads, pastries, and coffee.
"Do you do this every morning?" she smiles, fixing the strap of her backpack.
He shook his head, calmly folding the dough one last time and placing it on a greased glass bread pan. "I do this every day, we just have this routine between shifts in the morning and the evening."
She nods in understanding as she stood in the shop empty shop. "My brother might look lazy, but he's really, a busy man." Akio said, looking at the clock washing his hands.
"He's your brother?"
"Yeah. I guess you haven't figured it out because he's my boss." he adds, taking off his apron switching it out for his black blazer," You have to be real serious in the family business; if you're careless, then what's the point of you having the shop. They would hand it off to someone they can trust, only the members in the family."
"Simple yet strict."
"Yep. It's fun though."
"Oh?"
"It is. I get to do my dream job everyday. Like what they say. If you love what you do, you won't work a day in your life."
