CHAPTER TWO - Reunion

When our car rolled through the front gates of Miami Holiday Park, my stomach tightened. All my memories flooded back at once exhausting me. I saw a boy as the car rolled through. As we passed him, he gaped in the car like a guppy. I smiled at him, absent mindedly bearing my teeth. He had a confused look on his face as he continued to walk after the car. His eyes looked so familiar. When we pulled up to our dorm, a family of five was sitting out the front playing cards. There was a couple and three young boys.

I jumped out the car, putting my iPod in my pocket still allowing it to play. The boy I saw earlier arrived at our dorm and joined the other family. "Newcomers!" the lady said excitedly. "Rob, help them with their bags!" Rob? I knew that name. The lady came up to Mum gesturing a handshake. "How you doing Keira?" she asked Mum. Mum smiled. "Carly!" she said pulling their handshake into a hug, "My god! It's been years! You look great!" Carly subtracted from Mum and twirled her skirt. She looked at me in disbelief. "Is that Melissa?" she asked astonished. I nodded and grinned. "You remember Aaron, don't ya?" Rob asked. I looked at Aaron and smiled. He had grown into such a dreamy boy. He was tall and had jet black spikey hair. His eyes were green, and he had perculiar freckles all around his faial features. He was two heads taller than I, but I didn't mind gaping up so see his masculine face. I quickly walked to the dorm. It had a warm smell to it as I placed my suitcase on my bed. Greg came up from behind me and sat wrecklessly on my bed. "Who's the guy?" he asked raising his eyebrows. "An old friend," I giggled while shyly smiling.

After I'd finished unpacking, I walked outside to join our families. Thomas had grown up. He was a year older than Greg, but acted younger. Liam was the second youngest, he was 12, and Greg who was 11. "Greg?" I asked baffled. "Yeah," Carly replied. "We fell in love with the name when we met your little brother!" Greg smiled proudly. "Well it is quite an awesome name." I looked over at Mum, who had a silly smile on her face. I could tell this holiday was going to be incredible. "Melissa," Mum began, "could you duck to the deli and grab us some milk?" I nodded and reached for my bag. "Aaron will join you," Rob said in a somewhat condescending voice. I looked up at Aaron while haltering my bag onto my shoulder. We had a kilometre, so we got walking straight away.

"We made mudpies together didn't we?" Aaron asked walking sideways. I nodded, grasping my bag in my hand.

"You wouldn't happen to have a voice box by any chance?" I smiled,

"I don't really like talking. First impressions don't fade," He laughed at me,

"Don't be daft! We met 11 years ago. I already like ya." I smiled, comforted by his words. We walked and talked about everything; my graduation, his graduation, my Grandad, and his Oma. He was such an interesting person. With him, I finally remembered what it was like to be 5 again. No care in the world about tomorrow, just us, right here, and right now.

When we arrived at the deli we walked through to the milk section. Aaron promptly followed me as I walked to the counter. The checkout boy looked me up and down and then looked at Aaron. He raised his eyebrows at him in acknowledgement. I passed a $5 to him and grabbed the milk. "You forgot your change," He stuttered as I began walking for the door.

"Keep it," I replied, "It's a tip."

Aaron poked me as we walked out. "What was that about?" He asked, "you've only been here five minutes and you've got all the boys chasing you!" I laughed at him,

"You're delusional! It's called being nice!" He smiled sheepishly, "So you're sixteen right?" I nodded at him,

"Seventeen in November." He chortled chucking his head back.

"You haven't changed!" He said smiling and glaring. "Yes, I have!" I spat. "Oh yeah?" he vehemently said. "Yeah, I'm taller, my hairs longer, I talk more and I don't like Teletubbies anymore." He chuckled at me, "Yes, that is true," He moved closer, "But you're still absolutely beautiful." He brushed my hair behind my ear as he looked at me. He then subtracted from me, "And I bet you still LOOO-OOOOVE me, so no, you haven't really changed." He exclaimed in a sarcastic tone. I slapped his arm lightly, "You're still cheeky!" I laughed attempting to prove a point. "Mayer's honour!" he said with a cheeky grin and holding the spock signal with his fingers.

When we arrived back my Mum looked at me funny. "Took you long enough! You love birds best go make your Mumma's a cuppa'tea for making us wait!" she joked. "You're lucky you're both cute as hell, otherwise I'd have to punch yous in the face!" Mum always said that. It was either that or a knuckle sandwich. I quickly ran for the dorm as Aaron followed me like a lost puppy.
