"Jess." The voice whispered. "Hey Jess, wake up."
I groaned and rolled over, pulling the covers up closer to my face.
"Get up." The voice persisted.
"No." I moaned.
The sound of footsteps. Finally. It's Sunday, just let me sleep in.
A blast of cold air shot over me, the covers ripped away. My eyes flew open. I saw the curtains flapping noisily in the breeze that traveled through the open balconey doors.
"Get up. We're going for a run." Joel ordered.
"Yeah. Right." I scoffed, pulling the covers back over me.
"Yeah," Joel removed the covers once more, stepping well away from the bed. "Right."
He bundled up the sheets and tossed them in a corner in an "I'll get it later" fashion. He was already dressed in a pair of ripped denim shorts and vans t-shirt.
"Now get dressed and meet me at the back door." He left, shutting the door behind him.
Quickly pulling on a pair of three-quarter leggings and racerback tank with my joggers, I dashed downstairs to see a waiting Joel. He laughed as I completed the last twist of the band in my ponytail.
"Well that was a waste."
"What?"
"We're going for a run."
"What? Did you think I was dumb enough to try running in jeans?"
"No, no, Jess. We're going for a run."
I stood there like an idiot, knowing I was missing something. He just sighed and walked outside to the edge of the treeline. He started stripping off.
"WHOAH! Whoah! Whoah! What the HELL are you doing?"
"You'll have to get used to it Jess. Nakedness is a part of werewolf life."
"I do NOT need to see your wang out, thank you very much." I said rather loudly. It was too late. It was out. And honestly, it was kind of freaking me out. Joel shifted into that massive grey wolf I saw on the day I was initiated. I gave a slight start, my body buzzing, wanting to shift into the beast. He looked me straight in the eye.
We're going for a RUN, Jess.
The feeling disappeared almost entirely. He shifted back, standing stark naked in the middle of his backyard. I looked down at my feet, feeling very awkward. Oh.
