My heart was racing. I had no idea what he was going to do. This wasn't like him. He was usually so nice to me. I could feel my heartbeat in the back of my throat. He stood tall and strong, his body mere inches from my own. I felt the tension between us as it rose in the silence. His arms trapped me as he rested his hands against the locker on either side of my head.
"What the hell is your problem?"
"Me? What about you? Slamming perfectly innocent girls into lockers. How about you tell me what you're talking about, first."
"You should know since you were the one who tried to kill me!"
"Okay, unless I get a straight answer from you in the next three seconds, I'm leaving whether you like it or not."
He lowered his arms and stepped back. He paused for a moment, considering. Yes, the tables had turned, I was in control now and he knew it. He cocked his head slightly, opening his mouth, almost tasting the words before he spat them out.
"You- your other- you tried to kill me. You almost died yourself. When I tried to help you. You tried to kill me."
"I tried to kill you?"
"Yesterday. You ran out of school and I followed you. There was a lot of blood. You growled and you jumped at me. You tried to attack me, then ran off. Then you healed like crazy and changed. We walked back into school and got told ooff by the principal. Don't you remember any of this?" At that point I was lead to believe he was realising how preposterous this must all have sounded.
"Oh shit. Listen, Matt, I don't think we should hang out any more. Okay?"
"But why not?"
"Just trust me on this, please?"
"If that's what you want."
"It is. Now if you'll excuse me." And with that I pushed past him, walked down the corridor and down the stairs.
On my way Moran passed me, heading in the direction I had just come. Heading towards Matt. I heard faint words that sounded like, "My office, ten minutes." and then Moran was striding past him and down towards his office. I just had to know what was going on.
I walked down the main staircase ahead of Matt, hoping to later follow him to meet Moran. This wsa just too strange. Yesterday I'd accidentally transformed in fron of the student body and- Oh god! Yesterday I shifted in front of the students, I thought. Why has no one come after me with silver bullets or something? But before I could even begin to worry about that, I had passed Joel Grey and hidden myself in the recesses between two sets of lockers and had to concentrate on Matt as he passed.
I hovered outside the office as Matt approached the main desk.
"I need to talk to Mr Moran." He stated.
"He's just in his office. Wait outside and I'll let him know you're here." The old lady at the window replied.
