Jotting down notes in class is hard when you are paying no attention to the teacher. I just pick up on random sentences and jot them down. It's better than none. I look at jesse he is drawing on his book my guess is a car, a design coloured with blue details.
"Nice sketch" I say leaning over to him
"Mr. Harrington, how do you spell hygiene?"
"H- uh H- um" This isn't fair on him.
"H Y G I E N E" I interrupted sending a smile at Jess him returning one gratefully.
"Very good Miss. Spark but next time let him answer"
Jesse's eyes don't leave my figure until the bell rings announcing the end of school. Standing from my seat I smile at Jess before we both walk beside one another making our way to his locker than to mine. Pulling the doors open and walking out of the school grounds not to return till Monday.
----
Pulling into the driveway, I step out of my evo and pick off some of the bird crap on the side of my door. Bloody birds. The familiar smell of rust and grease fills my nose as i breath in and let out a sigh. I pull the cover up off of Jesses car and pop the hood. Finishing the little bit of work i didn't do yesterday. Not long later I hear the familiar car pull up, Jesse.
"Starting without me?" Jesse shouts as he slams his car door shut, making his way over to me. I smile to myself picking up my glass of water, taking a sip of it.
"Of coarse I am, you know me." I say passing a glass of water to him, he gladly accepts setting it down on the cupboard
"No Corona?" A smirk pulls at the side of his lip
"Keeping it safe. Dad saw mine yesterday and I'm already lying to him about tomorrow night" I say, looking at him his face slightly drops
He walks towards me, placing his hands on my shoulders
"Avery, it's fine, your mum's proud of you!" Jesse says, looking into my eyes. I feel a cold drip escape my eye. His finger drags along my cheek wiping away my tear before it has the chance to drag on anymore. I don't like crying. It's a form of weakness. Venerability. But I know I can trust him.
"You're stronger than this Av, come on let's do this car. Take your mind off it" his arm wraps around my shoulders, I smile. Let's get ready for this race.
